These books will give my 9th-grade language arts students a unique experience this school year. Rather than reading one book as a whole class, my students will have the opportunity to choose a novel to read based on their own interests. They will read and analyze their novels and meet to discuss them on a weekly basis, much like adult book clubs. This will give the students an individualized reading experience that aims to make reading more engaging. As a first-year teacher, I need all the help I can get to fund this project. Our school library does not have enough copies for each student to take these books home with them. And with our hybrid model schedule, students will not be in the classroom every day. They need to be able to take their books home to read.
