I teach at a public middle school in Southeast Los Angeles County with close to 3,000 students. The vast majority of our students qualify for free or reduced lunches. Teaching in a Math/Science/Technology Magnet program, digital projects are an essential part of my curriculum. Unfortunately, many times our students do not have all of the technological resources at home that allow them to complete some of my U.S. history projects in their entirety. One of the biggest issues many of them face is being able to print their projects. To further complicate manners, our state's financial situation has forced our district to make severe budget cuts. In addition, the current printer in my room is more than 8 years old and it's currently making its last stand.
