  • Help provide for Student Life Essentials

    Funded Sep 25, 2017

I cannot express to you the happiness on my students faces when they realized there were healthy snacks available for them when they gave up their lunch period to complete work in the classroom. The students were so grateful and wanted to know who made these snacks possible. They found it to be unbelievable that pure strangers were willing to reach out and help them in this way and it truly warmed their hearts and inspired hope in them. As a result of these snacks being available, many more students are remaining after school, as well, to complete work or exams. They know that they do not need to rush home to eat because they have something to hold them over for a couple of hours. It is such a wonderful feeling for the students to know that people are willing to partner with them and be united in this way.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. F.

  • Help Kickstart A Lifelong Love of Reading

    Funded Feb 24, 2017

Thank you for your support of our students. Children who struggle with reading tend to engage in various work-avoidant behaviors . Their low reading levels cause difficulty in comprehension and writing, as well as reading activities in class. Their self-esteem and self-confidence can be negatively impacted, as they feel their peers are academically superior to them. Your investment in these students has provided them with the opportunity to build these skills, which can lead to a more positive academic and social experience. Graphic novels also tend to boost reading interest.”

  • Help Build Our Classroom Supplies

    Funded Feb 3, 2017

My students are so excited to have new supplies coming into our classroom. The staplers supplied to us always break and are not replaced and this is something that students use on a regular basis. Having heavy duty staplers available to them to use for their homework, projects, and essays is extremely helpful. We are currently in the middle of an art project for our English class and the new classroom supplies will support this project, as well. Having a well stocked classroom filled with everything the students need makes them feel that they are important and special and helps to keep everything moving in an organized and efficient manner. Thank you again for your support.”

  • Help Us Infuse Technology Into Our Classroom

    Funded Dec 20, 2016

Your wonderful gift has completely changed the dynamics of my classroom and the opportunities that are now available as a part of our daily routine. My students can now use google docs to type and submit their work right in our classroom and can get direct feedback from their classmates and teacher on a regular basis. The constant struggle they had to find a printer to print their work from is no longer an issue because they can now print right in our classroom. We can actually work on typing, editing, and revising papers together in our classroom which was never a possibility before because we did not have laptops available for the whole class to work on at the same time. We can conduct research in the classroom to prepare argument essays and research papers as a class and can look at research databases together as I model for the students how to access the databases. A world of opportunity has been opened for my students and we cannot thank you enough for this wonderful gift you have given to us.”

  • Soccer Uniforms Needed for Girls PSAL Team

    Funded May 17, 2016

    Dear Donors,

We are so excited to be starting our next PSAL season in the Fall with brand new uniforms. Being a part of choosing and designing what we will wear to represent our team was both fun and inspiring. It will feel great to step onto the field with comfortable uniforms that we independently created. Feeling good and looking good will only contribute to our confidence and success.

We will begin practices for our upcoming season on August 15 and our first game will be the first week of school. Without your support we would not have had both home and away uniforms in time for our first game which would have caused major problems for us and possibly have forced us to forfeit our first game. We love the look and feel of our new uniforms and can't wait to win our first game wearing them!

We learned how to work with a company to custom order uniforms and what different options we had to consider. It was not as simple as we thought it would be because we had to pick the type of shirt and shorts, the logo, the style for the numbers, and the sizes. We did not realize how much needed to be considered before the order could be complete. We also didn't realize how costly the uniforms would be. Thank you so much for supporting our team and making this season possible.”

  • The Crucible Comes Alive!

    Funded Mar 9, 2016

    Dear Donors,

The opportunity to attend this play was such a tremendous gift to all of us. Very few of us would ever have the opportunity to experience watching a play in a fancy theater on Broadway or off-Broadway. To be able to apply what we learned in class as we read "The Crucible" to what we saw on stage as these incredible actors and actresses performed was an unforgettable experience. It was exciting to know that we had read and studied this play in class and now we were watching it and connecting what we discussed to an actual live performance.

We were surprised by the number of older people all around us and wondered if that is usually the type of people who attend plays. The seats were also very close together without much leg room which was unexpected and we realized how quiet we had to be because we were so close to others who were watching the play. The scene where the Reverend's daughter, Betty, had to lie perfectly still on the bed because she was struck with something that made her unresponsive really impressed us. We couldn't believe she was able to lay there so still without moving at all for the entire scene. We kept watching to see if she would flinch or shift position but she never did.

We will continue to apply the knowledge of how to behave correctly in formal settings and will carry with us the understanding of how a play that is read looks when it is actually being performed. We now truly understand how the character's use of voice really impacts the tone of the scene.”

  • Help the Soccer Eagles Soar

    Funded Dec 28, 2015

Thank you for donating to our project. We are truly grateful for your help. Our students were beyond excited when the new soccer materials arrived.

Every soccer season we have supplies that get worn out, lost, or broken. Soccer balls do not last long since they are repeatedly used at both practices and games. Therefore, we are always in need of replenishing this necessary part of our equipment. The portable goals we purchased for small sided practice games will be a great addition to our practices.

The boy's eyes lit up when we opened the boxes and they saw the new soccer balls and goalie gloves. Our goalie works hard and by the end of a season, his gloves are pretty beat up. We cannot afford to replace these supplies every year since they are very costly. Without your help we would be at an extreme loss for our necessary supplies. Thank you again for supporting our cause.”

  • Life Essentials For High School Students

    Funded Dec 17, 2015

Thank you for your generous donation. Healthy snacks are beneficial in so many ways with my students. Many arrive late to school without breakfast and have difficulty focusing in class because they are hungry. I am now able to offer them a granola bar or some trail mix as an easy snack to eat during class. I also have students staying afterschool for Regents preparation until 5pm. It is difficult to keep them motivated afterschool for two hours when they are hungry. Healthy snacks are very beneficial to have handy during this time.

My students were very excited to have such a nice variety of snacks available and they were even happier when they realized the snack was free. Thank you for helping to support both their health and education.”

  • Home Uniforms needed for PSAL Soccer Team

    Funded Aug 6, 2015

I cannot express to you the joy and relief felt by the boys on this soccer team when they realized that they no longer had to worry about going into this new season prepared. When we were notified that we needed both a home and away jersey, the school year had already ended. We had already gotten new jerseys and thought we were set for the upcoming season. Later finding out that we needed another set of jerseys in white was quite a shock and left us wondering what we would be able to do to have them in time for the new season.

This team had an amazing season this year. They made it to the second round of the playoffs and had some really memorable games. All of this would not have been possible without your support. Thank you.”

We are an inner city school with an incredibly diverse population. Many of our students are amazing soccer players, who with the adequate supplies, will be able to have a school soccer team and have the opportunity to receive a college scholarship. They cannot be seen by college scouts if there is not a school team for them to participate in.
