In a classroom with struggling readers and writers, the impact of these Scholastic Scope magazines has been extremely beneficial and we can't thank you enough! These highly engaging supplemental readings are relatable, interesting and relevant to our curriculum, and truly target multiple skills in both reading, writing, speaking and listening. Once weekly, our students choose a magazine, listen to the audio version, and complete various activities in their reading groups. The results? Almost all of our struggling readers have gone up 1-2 reading levels in just 3 months. Without your support, all this would not be possible. Furthermore, it is a reading teacher's constant struggle to get some students to want to read independently. However, these magazines are kid-friendly, visually and auditorily appealing, and introduce stories about children all over the world with similar experiences to the students in my own classroom. Now, these students are not only excited to pick up a magazine and explore a new story, but they are also exposing themselves to new genres such as plays, narrative nonfiction, and informational texts that they otherwise would never choose to read on their own. You are helping us create a more well-rounded education and we couldn't be more thankful.
