Cleanliness Creates Keen Kids!
Funded Dec 31, 2017Thank you so much for your donations to my classroom! This winter has been very challenging. Each week, many students and teachers are not feeling very well, and we had a snow day. Some days, my students have used an entire box of tissues. Now, we have plenty of tissues that will hopefully last us until the end of the school year! Furthermore, we have been able to clean the room with disinfectant wipes and paper-towels.
My students were very excited when we received a call from the office that there were packages for us to pick up! They instantaneously knew it was from this DonorsChoose Project. We went down to pick up the boxes and put some of them in the closet. Ironically, the day that we ran out of tissues was the day that the packages arrived, so the packages came at a very perfect time! Also, they were very excited to clean the classroom with the wipes.
In sum, our classroom is much cleaner and my students are thus able to focus on their academics!”

Don't Ever Have to Plead the Fifth: Feed the Fifth!
Funded Nov 28, 2017Thank you all so much for your selfless donations to my students! Each morning when my students walk in, they know that they will be able to eat a little something and get started with their day. Before they even take their coats off, they are politely asking for breakfast. Thanks to your kind donations, the mornings in my classroom are much brighter and students are more engaged because they are not sulking in hunger waiting for their lunch.
When my students first saw the boxes and were told that we received donations for breakfast, they all volunteered to give up their lunches and help me carry the delivery up to the fourth floor. We also searched for a place to put the snacks in the classroom.
Since being funded, my students come to school 30 minutes earlier to eat breakfast. Some of them even enjoy beginning their classwork for the day knowing that they are fueled and ready! A full stomach leads to a flourishing student!”

Funded Nov 20, 2017Thank you so much for your kind donations to my classroom! In just a short period of time, my students have used the laptop for multiple assignments, namely their research work. Currently, we are concluding our nonfiction unit. A component of the unit is a research assignment. Although we have some access to some books, the topics that my students wanted to conduct their research on was much more modern in contrast to the outdated books that we have. Therefore, being able to have access to a computer to conduct research (including on renewable energy resources, etc.) has been immensely helpful!
Many of my students really enjoy science! Presently, they are able to conduct more research on the topics that they truly enjoy and desire to learn about! Research is a very valuable and paramount tool to an individual's success. In Middle School, High School, and College, students will be conducting an immense amount of research. Therefore, being able to become exposed to research at a young age will benefit each of them in their future endeavors! Nonetheless, engagement in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) topic will hopefully positively influence their career choices, as statistics clearly affirm that there will be a rapid increase in jobs pertaining to STEM fields in the coming years.
Despite limited access to technology in their lives, many of my students are quite proficient with their computer literacy skills! It is quite invigorating that they are fully capable with limited exposure, so I am confident that if they read about various different nonfiction topics, they will be adequately well-versed in the respective subject! Thank you for your donations for a laptop that is helping make this happen!”
