  • Organization Will Help Us Learn

    Funded Jul 24, 2022

Your very generous donations has made the speech room so much more organized and easier for the students to see the materials they want and to have easier access to what they would like. The shelving has helped organize all of the available materials. The clear storage boxes have helped students see exactly what they would like to participate in for their speech sessions and have encouraged them to request using their best available language skills to get what they want. Because of your donation, our small speech room has become that much more organized and accessible.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Bukhman

  • Sturdy Boxes to Transport Games for Peer Mentoring

    Funded Sep 5, 2022

We are so very thankful for your support. Because of your very generous donations we will be able to have a calm and sensory friendly speech room. The lights will allow us to turn down our bright florescent lights which affect our children who are sensitive to bright lights. The sensory toys will help my students their sensory needs met and will help them with self regulation. We will be working on them asking them for what they want and teaching them to express their wants and needs to keep them calm and engaged.”

  • Communication Boards to Help Access the Curriculum

    Funded May 3, 2022

Thank you so much for your dedication to my students. With your help I am able to provide the learning materials necessary for my students to access their classroom lessons and communicate their wants and needs. My students will love having sturdy communication boards with all of their "words" on it. They will love taking pictures of their favorite items and seeing the picture instantly printed from the camera. All of this will be laminated and protected so that they can use these materials again and again which will help my students connect and take ownership of their communication boards.”

  • Sensory Toys and Cleaning Supplies

    Funded Jun 5, 2021

Thank you so much for all your support of my students. I was able to engage my students in learning in a clean and safe way. I was able to encourage students to communicate using the very highly desirable toys and was able to keep everyone safe by cleaning the toys between students. This meant that students felt safe coming and engaging in speech therapy and were able to enjoy the process. I was also able to teach students responsibility by cleaning up after themselves when they were done participating in the speech sessions.”

  • Digital Materials to Improve Communication Skills

    Funded May 3, 2021

We are so grateful for your extremely generous donation. We received the teletherapy material and this has made remote therapy so much easier and more enjoyable for all of our students.

These materials have made my ability to provide accessible therapy for all of my students who are remote this year. I am so grateful for all your support.

This year has been unprecedented and we have all had to work through adverse situations and make the best of learning remotely which was hard for many of my students but with your support you have made this easier.”

  • Individual Bags to Improve Speech and Language Skills

    Funded Aug 11, 2020

I am hard at work making individual bags for each student that will be handed out to each student to take home during remote instruction. My students will be so excited to test out and explore the properties of the wind up toys. The fidget toys will definitely help them sit in their seats longer and will help them pay attention better during remote instruction. The felt and screen holder will allow me to show green screen activities to help my students improve their speech and language and improve their imaginative play. Your very generous donations have made such a great impact already and the school year is just about to start up. Thank you!!”

Thank you so very much for your extremely generous donation. With your help I am able to help my students succeed by engaging their families in their progress and as vehicles to help them develop and grow. Because of your donation, I have been able to better engage 30 sets of parents this year and several of the students have even said their first words (at the age of 5). I hope that you understand the great deed you have done has allowed a butterfly effect of change for the students in my school. We are truly grateful for your support.”

My students come from a tough neighborhood in NYC. They have various and multiple special needs and have a very difficult time learning basic skills. They struggle every day trying to communicate their wants and needs. I am a Speech Language Pathologist who is new to this school and from my experience, these kids would benefit from having pictures all over the school to help them communicate and to help them understand the world around them. Having visual symbols in their environment will significantly reduce student frustration, and decrease the amount of time teachers spend trying to figure out what the students want, and increase teachable moments throughout the day.
