Shark Tank Sports SPLASH
Funded Nov 13, 2017We are very grateful for having our project, Shark Tank Sports Splash, fully funded. Our school suffered minor damage during last year's hurricane Irma. Tree limbs were all over the school grounds, in addition to minor water damage. Nevertheless, there was also some emotional damage incurred by this storm. School morale was low because many homes and families in our area were affected.
Our staff felt that we could make a positive impact on students' morale by encouraging our students to support and/or participate in our sports program. These include swimming, basketball, and tennis. By cheering on their peers and engaging in competitive sports, we felt that we could encourage unity and support among our students.
Thank you for this opportunity! Our students will benefit from the sports equipment. Nothing helps a community more than uniting behind a team with shared goals. That's what your funds have helped us achieve. We are forever thankful.”

Shark is the Name ... Academics is Our Game!
Funded Nov 28, 2016As a middle school teacher, I've seen firsthand how challenging it is for parents and teachers to guide students on the right path. Children are making new friends, socializing, and becoming more independent during middle school. They are also greatly exposed to social media. All of these experiences can be very enriching, but students still need a lot of supervision and guidance.
Your generous donation will help our staff promote positive interactions and academic achievement. The pens and pencils will be given as rewards for book club members, honor roll students, and behavioral improvements. This is an awesome way to promote positive student/teacher relationships! Students will also feel recognized in their learning environment.
We are truly grateful for your generosity. Our students will be able to appreciate the importance of giving back to the community. Hopefully, they will do the same for others when they grow up. What a great way to promote unity! Thank you!”

It's NOT Small ... It's Microscopic!!
Funded Nov 20, 2015Our class is grateful for your generous contribution. The microscopes and slides have not only sparked our interest in science, they've made us view our world in a whole new way!!! We have an assigned Lab area in our classroom, and the microscopes have made our Lab the "coolest in the school."
We've even invited other classes to use them with us. Why? Because our school is focused on STEM achievement! Once we started to spread the word about our new lab tools, many teachers started to come by to check them out!
Your donation has greatly impacted our classroom and our school. We are all truly excited about science! Thank you for helping us learn about the incredible microscopic world around us !”

Listening Center For Lifetime Learners!
Funded Dec 19, 2014Words aren't enough to express our gratitude. My students have a renewed enthusiasm for reading because our new listening center is the comfiest place in the school to sit back, relax, and enjoy a good book.
From the moment I announced that Chevron had funded our Donorschoose application, my students were constantly asking, "Is our stuff here yet?" and "Can we use the bean bags soon?" Thankfully, the packages arrived within a few weeks and our listening center was up and running!
Every day, our reading groups rotate between centers. The listening center is, by far, the class favorite.
This past grading period, our class had the highest scoring students in the school reading incentive program. Thanks to your generous donation, the children have rediscovered the joy of reading. I believe this will help prepare them for future success. Thank you!”

Healthy Lifestyles Start Here And Now
Funded Oct 22, 2013First and foremost, my students and I want to wish everyone from South Florida KIA and Chevron a wonderful holiday season and a Happy New Year! We are grateful for your generous donation! It has enabled our class to have amazing sports equipment. We use these items every time we go outside for recess. Our physical fitness has improved and we've learned to play different organized sports such as kickball, soccer, and basketball.
A major goal for this project was to improve interpersonal skills. By focusing on sportsmanship and cooperation, the students have become closer. Working as a team on the field has also improved cooperation in the classroom.
Thanks for giving back to the community in this way. I won't ever forget your generosity, and I don't believe the children will, either.”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Borbolla
This classroom project was brought to life by South Florida Kia Retailers and one other donor.
