  • Let's Get Writing Right Away!

    Funded Jan 22, 2016

    Dear Donors,

It is with sincere gratitude that I thank you for assisting us in our purchase of our Document Camera. This device has enhanced our learning even further than what I had expected. It has given us the opportunity to share our writing with one another for the purpose of correcting, enhancing and revising, so that everyone can see where corrections are needed and how we can make our writing better. We have been using the device mainly to assist with grammar for items that are not able to be displayed on the Smart Board. I can easily display their work on the device and the students can see what we are doing and come to the camera to make their corrections or share their knowledge. The students love coming to my desk to rewrite/ revise their work. It is not a shameful experience because they are now the "teacher".

The fact that you all took time to assist us by being so selfless is yet another learning tool I have been able to use in the classroom with my wonderful boys and girls. Being generous and being believers of our Public School education is something we don't see very often. It was with great excitement that my students watched me open the package and even lots of giggles when they saw me struggle while learning to use it (another teaching moment)! I am proud to have an organizations such as Donor Choose that supports our education and even prouder to know that there are people like yourselves that want to do your part and be part of our success.

All I can say on behalf of my students and I is thank you, thank you, thank you!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Aguilar

  • Technology to the Rescue!

    Funded Oct 24, 2014

The way you have all impacted my student's learning is immeasurable. My students have been eager to complete assignments on our tablets. To see their bright little faces when it is their time to use them to research and write is priceless. You have all invigorated our learning and made technology something that they can actually use to do things other than play games. The tablets have enabled them to get the much needed practice in typing for their state tests that they will begin taking on the computers next year. I am proud that there are people and organizations that are so giving and supportive of the education of these amazing little individuals. Thank you for giving to this project. Your generosity has without a doubt influenced and impacted my students. Guided reading, small group instruction, grammar practice and writing are some of many ways my students have been able to utilize the tablets in class. There aren't enough words or characters that would allow my students and I to accurately express our gratitude therefore, we will simply say "thank you".”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Aguilar

  • Whispering Our Way to Reading

    Funded May 29, 2013

On behalf of my students and I, we would like to sincerely thank you for helping to impact our learning through reading. This has been an amazing experience for me. Watching my students grow and learn without embarrassment over their fluency has been a real treat. As you can see they LOVE & enjoy reading thanks solely to your generosity. There are no words that can significantly relay the gratitude we have for your belief in us. We will continue to make you proud and read, read, read. Thank you!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Aguilar

  • Learning Through Mini Lessons & Small Groups

    Funded Aug 7, 2012

Thank you again for your generosity. My students and I have been enjoying our Royal Inspiration Station for about two weeks now. We have had many engaging mini- lessons, morning meetings, & small group lessons. I must say however, that the biggest impact it has made is on my ESE students. They are able learn in smaller groups and at a slower pace. This has allowed them the opportunity to learn without feeling inadequate. It is as good as I imagined it to be. Actually, it is even better! Thank you!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Aguilar

My class consists of ESOL and ESE students. My ESOL students have yet to master English and unfortunately their parents do not speak English as well. My ESE students are learning disabled or as I like to say they "learn differently". Our school is predominately Hispanic and our current enrollment is above 800 students. The majority of our parents are Spanish speaking and although they are extremely helpful they lack the mastery in English to assist their children at home. Those parents that wish to retain one to one tutoring for their children are limited due to financial restraints. Therefore, the impact that I have in the classroom is even more important to the learning gains of my students.
