  • Rocking in the Library!

    Funded May 31, 2021

I am forever grateful for your continued support, Stitch! You are one of our number one supporters and I appreciate you so much for that! My new rocking chair and pillow are the absolute best! I got to put it to good use today with some of my students. They kept saying it was so pretty and that the pillow had a positive message they liked. In the pictures, you'll see us smiling from ear to ear even behind our masks. Once my library is completely renovated and I'm back in the library with my big rug I'll be able to get daily use out of it. It is super comfortable and low so that I can connect with my younger students. It's perfect!

Thank you so much for making a personal connection with me and my students. You have put smiles on us over and over again. Lots of the gifts from you would not have been possible without your support, so I am truly grateful for each and every one of your kind donations. May you be blessed with so much more! Stay safe and take care!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. V. Flores

  • Student Chosen Books! Part 2

    Funded May 4, 2021

My students and I send you a huge THANK YOU for supporting us during these challenging times. By supporting our project, you are putting so many needed books in our children's hands. We are forever grateful for your support! This was another special book project and a much-needed one, especially during these times.

I am excited to incorporate these books into my lessons and get them into my student's hands. With everything going on in the world it is important to provide my students with titles that will inspire them and that they choose themselves. I created a Google form that my students can fill out throughout the school year with book titles that they would like to add to our library collection. I always try my best to get them the books they have chosen because it makes them super happy and that makes me happy!

In the pictures, you will see some of my students very excited to receive new books! Behind the mask, they are smiling from ear to ear because of your kindness and generosity! Every time a box arrives with books, I make sure and show it to every class throughout the week. They love when the books come straight out of the box! Hearing them say, "yay" and "wow" will never get old. This would not have been possible without your support. Thank you for helping me continue to build a love of reading. We send many hugs from Texas! Much love and respect!”

  • Social-Emotional Learning Picture Books Part 2

    Funded May 30, 2021

My students and I send you a huge THANK YOU for continuing to support us during these challenging times. By supporting our projects, you are putting so many needed books in our children's hands. We are forever grateful for your support! This was another special book project and a much-needed one, especially during these times.

I am excited to incorporate these books into my lessons! It has become very apparent to me while teaching that social-emotional learning must take place. Most children don't come equipped with these skills. These books will stir up so many important conversations. I love that they will allow my students to express their emotions and continue our social-emotional learning.

  • Graphic Novels Are Great for All Readers! Part 3

    Funded May 4, 2021

Hooray for books! Thank you so much for putting smiles on all of my students with these brand-new graphic novels! The books I chose feature characters that my students know and love. They are such popular titles that I have to purchase several copies to circulate. I especially love that they are a hit with my reluctant readers, too. They keep my students engaged and interested in reading which is fundamental to becoming lifelong readers.

When the books arrived my students were so excited! They said, "OMG" and "I love them!" They always ask who sent the books, and I make sure to mention our donor's names. They feel so special knowing someone would donate to them. In the pictures, you will see them very excited about all the new books! They immediately wanted to check them out, but I still had to catalog and process them before they could. I stayed after school to have them ready for them the following day. They send many thank yous and virtual hugs!

Our library is in need of new books because a lot of books taken when the pandemic began did not get returned, therefore I had to mark them as lost. I am slowly but surely getting more books into our library and most importantly into my student's hands. With your help, I can continue to build a love of reading. Thank you for your contributions and for making a difference in their lives! I hope you will continue to be a part of our journey. My hope is to have a fully stocked library when all students return next school year. Stay safe and take care!”

Thank you so much for putting smiles on all of my students with these brand-new books, Stitch! This was a special project for my young readers because they absolutely love Pete the Cat. I enjoy reading them to my students in grades Pre-K through 2nd during their library class. After each read-aloud, we discuss the book and I ask my students comprehension questions. They enjoy our discussions so much!

We are forever grateful for your support! This was another special book project and a much-needed one for our library collection.

I am excited to incorporate these Dr. Seuss books into my lessons! They are such classics and my readers have been loving them. My students had so much to say when all the new goodies arrived just in time to celebrate Read Across America by honoring Dr. Seuss. They were jumping for joy when the boxes arrived! I rushed to catalog and process the books so that my readers could begin to check them out.

In the pictures, you will see my students very excited to receive new books! From PreK-5th grade, they are all smiling from ear to ear behind their mask because of your kindness and generosity! Funded Jan 6, 2021

My students and I send you a huge THANK YOU for supporting us during these challenging times. By supporting our project, you are putting so many needed books in our children's hands. We are forever grateful for your support! This was another special book project and a much-needed one, especially during these times.

I am excited to incorporate these diverse books into my lessons! With everything going on in the world it is important to provide my students with titles that will inspire them and help them learn about others. I've already read several of these to my students but the last one that really made an impact on my kiddos was, "I Promise" by Lebron James. My students had so much to say and pledged to always try their best on whatever comes their way. I love that these books will allow my students to express their thoughts and ideas.

In the pictures, you will see some of my students very excited to receive new books! Behind the mask, they are smiling from ear to ear because of your kindness and generosity! • Fun Supplies to Motivate Students Daily!

    Funded Jan 9, 2021

Thank you so much for putting smiles on all of my students with these fun Dr. Seuss pencils and erasers! This was a special project because each and every child from PreK-5th received a goodie bag from their new Librarian. The goodie bag consisted of a pencil, eraser, and bookmark.

We celebrated Read Across America with a fun parade in our school! In the pictures, you will see my students walking down the hall having such a great time celebrating reading. I was able to provide my students learning from home with a bag as well however, parents had to pick it up in the front office since we were not allowed to have a drive-by parade. They were all thrilled to have an extra little gift with a pencil, eraser, and bookmark. They send many thank yous and virtual hugs!

This would not have been possible without your support, so I am truly grateful for each and every one of your kind donations. My students were super happy to take some pictures for you. Thank you again for helping me promote reading to 600 students who love learning and reading. Most importantly, thank you for caring and believing in my future leaders! Stay safe and take care!”

Twenty-first century skills are an important part of learning and the future in libraries. Preparing students to become lifelong learners and readers is my number one goal. My students lack a lot of experiences that others have because of the area in which they live. Being able to provide them with a learning environment other than what they're used to is sure to get them motivated. My goal is to provide a welcoming environment where communication, collaboration, and learning take place. Literacy, information and digital literacy development will take place in the library.
