Clean, Healthy, and Organized for the Win!
Funded Sep 14, 2019What an amazing feeling to have your continuous support! Your kindness and generosity is greatly appreciated by our 3rd grade classroom! The materials are being used on a daily basis to help stay clean, healthy, and organized. My "clean up crew" uses the Clorox wipes to clean desks and wipe away the germs daily. I was able to make a calm down bin with the clear caddie and all of the fidget toys, which is a hit with my autistic and ADHD students. They help to relieve stress and anxiety. The cart is amazing and my students store the extra classroom supplies in there so that they can access them with ease.
When the boxes arrived they immediately wanted to open them and of course we did! They could not believe the variety of materials that had arrived. They were even excited to see that I had received some of my favorite pens that I use daily with them. I have to admit they were most excited about the iPad cases which we desperately needed because I was worried they might drop and break them. They exclaimed, "we love our donors so much!"
Thanks to your donations, the overall quality of our classroom and student health has improved. My students are more responsible knowing that we have items that need to stay organized in order for our class to run smoothly. We can't thank you enough for everything you have done for us! My students and I send you many hugs and wish you many blessings!”

Mrs. V. Flores

Funded Sep 4, 2019We cannot thank you enough for your kindness and generosity! I feel like we won the lotto thanks to your support! My students look forward to coming to school for their snack. When asked what they thought about their teacher they said, "She's really nice and gives us snacks during class to fill our rumbling tummies." They sure do love their snacks! The snacks are eaten every week, especially when we eat in the classroom or take an assessment. The dusters are used on a daily basis by my "clean up crew." They love how they extend to get to those hard to reach places.
As you can see from the pictures, my students were ecstatic to receive all the snacks for our new cabinet. They exclaimed, "woah.. are these for us?!?!" They stated that the last time they remember having snacks in class was in kindergarten. They quickly opened the boxes and organized them in the plastic containers. They couldn't stop expressing their gratitude for your donations Lisa and M3!
The snacks are really helping to keep my students engaged while learning. Most importantly their bodies are being fueled by something tasty. Thank you a million times for your support. Please know that you are making a huge difference in the lives of children. We are forever grateful and send you many hugs!”

Funded Jun 16, 2019We cannot thank you enough for your kindness and generosity! The Sphero educational robot is an outstanding addition to our 3rd grade classroom. My students are learning the basics of coding with the robot all while integrating it with our curriculum. To begin, my students decided to create a maze with the tape provided in the box so that they could, "start slow." Those were their own words. As you can see in the photos they could not contain their excitement!
Some of the things my students said as they opened their surprise were, "Wow!" and "Is it a robot?" They couldn't wait to discover what it had to offer. Their favorite part is how it changes color and of course the fact that you get to code it to make movements. Another plus is all the activities available to use from the Sphero app.
The Sphero has really sparked creativity in the classroom. My students have come up with many ideas on how to use the robot in our classroom, especially during Math. The STEM skills they are learning will help prepare them for the future. This would have not been possible without your kind donations. Our classroom has a completely different vibe now and their self esteem has definitely been boosted! My students say, "Thank you so so much for your help!" We send you many hugs! May you be blessed with more and thank you for choosing to help my classroom and students by bringing this exciting piece of technology to us! Take care!”

Funded Jul 18, 2019"Wait.. whaaaat?!? Is this MacBook for us?" That is what my students said after opening the MacBook Air. Some of my students did not know what a MacBook was, but the ones that did quickly began explaining to their classmates. This piece of technology has been a major game changer in our class. It has motivated my students to learn so much more. The first thing they discovered was how different it was to a regular PC. They have become very comfortable using the different platforms. I was amazed at how quickly they were able to adapt to it. I love seeing them collaborate while using it.
My students have been able to use this powerful MacBook for so many things. What they loved the most was using iMovie to create a welcome video at the beginning of the school year. As you can see in the photos, we got to use the green screen to create book trailers for some new books that were donated to our classroom. It was so much fun to see their creative sides come to lives. They said, "I feel like such a movie star!" My bilingual students have also been using FlipGrid to practice their speaking by recording themselves. My GT students are currently using the MacBook for their creative GT projects. It is also used for Reading and Math programs that our district has purchased.
My students are most excited to create with the MacBook. They love creating slide shows using iPhoto of the projects they create in class. Once their slide shows are ready, we use the apple TV to mirror it to our smart board so that the entire class can see their final project. I am very happy my students are getting the opportunity to integrate 21st-century skills into their learning. It has helped my students in all areas of the curriculum.
None of this would have been possible if it wasn't for your donations. Our new MacBook is extremely reliable and has helped create outstanding lessons for my students. Learning has become more engaging and fun. We are very thankful for your generosity and for helping make our dreams a reality. My students deserve this and so much more. They say, "Thank you so much!" and "They are so kind!" I couldn't agree more with them. We send you many hugs! May you be blessed with more and we hope you continue to support our classroom in the future.”

Funded Jul 6, 2019"Like OMG!" "A Green Screen?!?!" Those were some of the things my new 3rd graders shouted when they opened the boxes and saw our new green screen. Some quickly began making connections to having seen videos on YouTube of people who use them and most wondered what exactly a green screen was. I was excited to give them the opportunity to experience windows to new worlds!
Their first green screen project consisted of them drawing an illustration of themselves over their summer break. They then took a picture of their drawing and saved it to our iPad. After, they wrote their own script and prepared to act in front of the green screen using the Do Ink app. They were beyond excited and shy at the same time. I loved seeing my students have a voice and really come out of their shell while recording. Some preferred their own privacy while recording and then allowed the whole class to watch their video after. It was such an amazing and unforgettable experience for my students.
Their next green screen project will be for our upcoming financial literacy unit. My students came up with the idea of making commercials to introduce coins and bills to the entire school during this unit. They said, "who doesn't love and want to learn about money?" So they decided to create videos with coins and bills falling from the sky, which they called, "making it rain." Haha! I really love it when my students collaborate and come up with such creative ideas!
This wouldn't be possible without your support! We are extremely thankful for your generosity towards this project. My students say you all are a blessing and they send you 25 hugs from South Texas. May you all be blessed with more! Take care!”

Funded May 18, 2019"I'm so excited!" "We got robots!" Those we some of the things my students shouted when they saw the Ozobots. Fortunately, my 3rd graders last year and this current year got to use the Ozobots for learning and coding at the same time. These were completely new to my students, since they had never heard of or used them before. They have been such a great addition to our STEM learning. The Ozobots are being incorporated into different areas of the curriculum.
My students most recently used the Ozobots during International Dot Day. I printed a poster from the Peter Reynolds website and my students made their mark. They got to choose 2 codes per group and watch the magic happen! They couldn't believe their eyes. They got to rotate to each group and see what codes they had chosen. They said, "It was so much fun Mrs. Flores."
The Ozobots were also used for a Reading lesson. I read the book, The Adventures of Beekle to my students, and they had to draw a plot mountain on paper and create 3 codes according to what happened in the plot. It was a success! Another lesson was during Science as my students learned about the different types of weather. They just love coding and learning at the same time! As you can see in the pictures, they are also being used with our classroom iPad on the Ozobot app.
My students and I want to thank you so so much for your kindness, generosity, and support! Without your donations, this would not have been possible. You are truly making a difference in their lives by making this possible and helping to prepare them for the future. My students send a big hug all the way from Brownsville, TX. Take care and may you be blessed with more!”

Funded Jul 11, 2019I cannot thank you enough for your kindness and generoisty! Flocabulary has been a complete game changer in the classroom. My students are fully engaged as they build their vocabulary and master standards using music. Our room is filled with joy throughout each lesson. My students and I enjoy using music as a teaching tool throughout our day!
When I first introduced Flocabulary, none of my students had ever heard of it. After the first lesson they were completely hooked! They said, "this is so cool, I love how they rap" and "I can't stop singing the song in my head." We begin each lesson with the video which covers the concept in any subject. Then we review the vocabulary cards together. Their favorite part follows, which is the vocabulary game. Each student goes up to the smart board and picks the correct answer, as you can see in the picture. They love the music beats made after choosing correct answers to the questions. The last parts are the read and respond and quiz sections.
Overall, my students can't get enough of Flocabulary! Integrating music in the classroom is so powerful and my students memory and learning capabilities are improving. They appreciate all of our donors and send a big hug and thank you all the way from Brownsville, TX!”

Funded Jun 15, 2019My students and I are so thankful for your generous donations! They love having other seating options in their classroom which they say are "cool!" The wobble stools and regular stools are being used at our computer center and small group table. The bean bags are used in our classroom library. I must admit that my students are much more motivated thanks to the new flexible seating.
I knew that my students would love our new flexible seating, but their reactions were the best! They said, "wow, are these for us" and "I'm so excited to use them." They quickly opened the boxes and assembled the wobble stools. You can see their huge smiles in the photos! They said, "we are so lucky and thankful for our donors."
It is because of your kind donations that my students are able to have other seating options rather than the traditional chair. Our classroom environment has completely changed in a positive way and my students are being much more responsible. We came up with rules to follow while using the flexible seating to ensure longevity of our new gifts. We appreciate your support a lot and thank you again for supporting our classroom! Take care!”

Funded Jun 19, 2019Thank you from the bottom of our hearts! This classroom printer is such a blessing. As soon as it arrived, I set it up so that the printing could begin! It has taught my students about being more responsible. We love how convenient it is to print throughout our day.
The first thing I printed was an "All About Me" banner so that I could get to know my students better the first week of school. They loved being able to write about themselves and present in front of their classmates. Along with that came the "Choose Kind" helmet. I read the book "We're All Wonders" and we discussed how everyone is unique and that we need to choose kind. They then wrote how they were going to choose kind this school year so that we can put it up on a bulletin board as a reminder. It was so much fun!
After the first full week of school, my students got assigned their jobs and my teacher assistants helped out with printing and cutting some "Show What You Know" cards that will be placed on their desk to check for understanding. Being able to print in color is the best ever! My students said, "wow, it's bright and colorful Mrs. Flores!" They were as excited as I was!
The printing continues on a daily basis whenever we need study guides for any subject. My students said we need to save the colored ink for "nice" things and that our study guides could be in black and white. You can see in the picture the quadrilaterals study guide sheet my students needed. The colored ink will be used a lot for my students GT, Science Fair, and Brainsville projects.
Overall, we want to you to know that we appreciate your support more than you know! Thank you for your kindness and generosity! May you be blessed with more. Take care.”

Funded May 28, 2019It's back to school! My new 3rd graders were very excited to see such a colorful rug in their classroom! We started of the school year by reading picture books about the first day of school, kindness, and growth mindset. Every book I read was on our new rug. It really makes our classroom such a welcoming place and accommodates all of my students. They especially love reading books in their comfy library area with a book buddy (stuffed toys).
The rug arrived during the summer, so I set it up for my new students to see during "meet the teacher" night. I heard lots of "oohs" and "aahs" from my new students and even some parents. I love being my students number one advocate because children deserve nothing but the best. This is truly their new favorite area in the room.
Lots more will be done in this area throughout the year. I allow students to work around the room with clipboards. They are most comfortable on the rug because our room has tile. My 23 students send lots of hugs to you for helping our classroom! They say, "thank you" with a huge smile!
Your kindness, continued support, and generosity means the world to us! Here's to our 2019-2020 school year! Thank you for making a difference in my students lives.”
