  • Student Chosen Books!

    Funded Mar 6, 2020

Hooray for books!! Thank you for putting smiles on 20 little humans with these brand new books! This was a special project because my students got to choose which books they wanted on the list. I am very thankful for the 2X match and for your donations. With your help, I can continue to build a love of reading. Every day I give my students at least 20 minutes of independent reading time. They get to choose what they want to read and they quickly got to reading their new selections! The pictures were taken throughout the week in our library area. They are comfortable and love to read!

The books will also be used with our reading curriculum. I read a book to them and ask them questions to build their comprehension. We also discuss the characters in the book and pick a theme for each book. They enjoy our discussions while they sit in our classroom library carpet area. Book are such a treasure in our class and it makes my heart happy when I hear my students say they love to read. I've had some students say they didn't really like reading until they got to my class, so I am beyond grateful for your support!

Thank you for your contribution and for making a difference in their lives! My students said, "Wow! Thank you for all the new books!" We send many hugs from Texas! I hope you will continue to be a part of our journey. My hope is to create an inviting space where my kiddos can learn while having fun. Much love and respect!”

    With gratitude,

  • Why Fit in When You Were Born to Stand Out?

    Funded Jan 16, 2020

Yay!! We thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your kindness and generosity! These fun supplies got my students so excited and motivated to learn! During Read Across America week I gave my students a gift every day of the week. They were jumping for joy and screaming for each gift. These basic supplies are needed in our classroom on a daily basis and making them fun and cute for them does keep them engaged. They have been using their pencils and rainbow writer to complete assignments. The colorful pens are being used every time they grade their homework. They love all the different colors the pen has! My students told me they appreciate each and every gift and said it felt like Christmas morning!

When the boxes arrived, I had to hide them because they were surprises for Read Across America week which took place the first week of March. After each gift was presented to them, the excitement was through the roof! Throughout the week they tried to match all their Dr. Seuss goodies with the same theme of their favorite book. We read books all week long and they used their new bookmark too! Without your support this would not have been possible.

These fun supplies will continue to motivate my students for the rest of the school year! We are extremely grateful for your support. They send lots of hugs and thank yous. They said, "We love our new gifts and thank you so much!" It feels wonderful knowing that people care about them and that you are cheering them on! Thank you again for supporting our classroom and for putting smiles on 20 little humans!”

  • We Need to Take Care of Our Books

    Funded Jan 20, 2020

Today was an amazing day for my kiddos! March is National Reading Month and we began by celebrating Dr. Seuss's birthday for Read Across America Week! My students were in for a huge surprise thanks to your kindness and generosity. With their new book bags, they are learning to build responsibility while fostering a love of reading. They were previously using a gallon sized Zip Lock bag to protect their books. Not only are the book bags larger but they are personalized with their own name!

My students were jumping for joy when they saw the book bags! They said, "Wow they are so much larger than our Zip Lock bag!" Some of my students even asked what to do with their old Zip Lock bag after emptying it out. They are extremely grateful for this gift you have given them and send many thank yous and hugs! Once I told them they would be personalized with their name they could not even believe it! I cut their names out at home and had them help to place their names on the bag. They were so excited and kept saying how "satisfying" it was to use the mini heat press on their book bag! They are so cute! We all loved the way they came out and they quickly threw away their old Zip Lock bag and replaced it with the new one!

Books are such a treasure and my students are loving their new book bags! I cried happy tears after seeing my reluctant readers excitedly grab some books to read and take home. Thank you for making this possible! They will also help keep our books in great condition and prevent books from getting lost. We appreciate you more than you know! Thank you for putting smiles on 20 little humans! My students are in need and your contribution shows them that some very special people care about them! May you be blessed with more!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. V. Flores

  • Fun Supplies to Motivate Students Daily!

    Funded Feb 1, 2020

Hip hip hooray! We thank you so much for your kindness and generosity! The supplies really did get my students motivated to learn! The markers are being used every day by my students while using our interactive notebooks, creating art, or even thank you cards. I have been loving all the different colors to use with my anchor charts that I hang around the room. My students tell me they appreciate the color on the charts so much because it catches their attention and helps them remember the content written on it. The smelly pencils were a huge hit the minute they came out of the box! My students could not believe the variety of scents! They yelled, "oh my gosh doughnut, snow cone, chocolate," and began to smell them all! You can see them in the photo smelling all the yummy flavors! Our new caddies are amazing! They hold so much more than the others I had purchased when I first started teaching 8 years ago.

When the goodies were opened my students could not contain themselves. They are so cute and always ask who they gifts are from before anything. They were jumping for joy and literally screaming with excitement! They said, "WOAH" about the huge box of markers and "YAY" about the smelly pencils! It is because of your kind donations that this is possible. Thank you for putting smiles on 20 little humans and their teacher!

These fun supplies and new caddies will continue to motivate my students! They are very grateful for your continued support. They said, "thank you so so much!" It feels wonderful knowing that people care about them and that you are cheering them on! Their faces when they receive gifts from donors like you will never get old! Thank you again for making a personal connection with my students! Much love and respect!”

  • I Wish I Had an iPad!

    Funded Dec 18, 2019

It always amazes me to see how others are willing to support me and my classroom! I thank you all from the bottom of my heart for your kindness and generosity! This iPad has been extremely beneficial to me and my students in many ways. I no longer have to sit next to my document camera and laptop to project while teaching. I can now more around the room freely by mirroring what is on the iPad to the board. The keyboard has been a huge help while I'm at professional developments or meetings because I can easily type my notes much rather than write them.

My students were beyond excited and happy for me because I now have my own iPad that I can use in our classroom. They said, "I'm glad you got an iPad because you need technology." Also, "I love how you can walk around the room with it." They will be using it in class too whenever we use our coding robots or learning apps. We now have three iPads in the classroom and my goal is to get us to four so that each group can use one. I am always looking for ways to continue to engage and motivate my student to succeed!

Donors like you make it possible for me to do my job efficiently. This iPad is really such a blessing for me. It helps me create outstanding lessons for my students which I can easily share. Grading, creating, arranging, and filing is right at my fingertips. Over the summer I also plan on completing the Apple teacher program so that I can continue to grow professionally and learn about applications to help my students excel. Thank you for your contributions and for making the world a better place. We send hugs and may you be blessed with more!”

  • Girls & Boys Can Code With Dash & Dot!

    Funded Nov 29, 2019

Wow! I am extremely grateful for your contribution and for allowing me to give my students this opportunity! Without your support this would not have been possible. The experiences they are gaining with our new Dash and Dot robots will help my future leaders in the real world. Our class has been learning all about coding and got to work on getting their Dash drivers licenses! Our robot came with so many accessories and my students have been learning how to use them all. You can see in the pictures the xylophone being used with the Dash robot. My kids were singing along with him and it was so much fun! Also, the launcher was used to knock down some towers they built with Jenga blocks and cups. These are the perfect robots for kids to start learning the basics of coding and the apps that go along with it are excellent! This is such a blessing!

Opening gifts from wonderful donors like you are always memorable for me and my students. From the moment they saw the box they couldn't contain their excitement. The room was filled with so much cheer! My students said, "It's a robot and looks so cute!" They also asked, "Who gave us such a nice gift?" I explained to them that there is a special person who cares about them and wants them to have this gift. They immediately began saying, "We thank them so much for being kind to our class!" They carefully opened the box and stored all the pieces in the case

I love being able to provide my students with new experiences even though it is difficult at times due to lack of funds. My students need me to advocate for them and that is what I am proud to do! Donors like you make it possible for me to do my job efficiently. Nearly all of my students are in need, so I thank you from the bottom of my heart for your kindness and generosity! You have put smiles on 20 little humans faces and for that I am forever grateful! We hope you continue to support our class and may you be blessed with more!”

  • Come One, Come All to the Greatest Class on Earth!

    Funded Sep 29, 2019

Our room transformation was a total success! My students had a blast from the moment they walked into the room and saw all the decorations! Their faces lit up and they said I was the BEST teacher in the world! This would not have been possible without your support! My students had to rotate from station to station to solve math problems. Each time the solved it correctly, their group got to play the bean bag toss game or spin the wheel. You can see the excitement in their faces!

When the gifts arrived my students wondered what would be done with all the carnival themed decorations. They never imagined their own room transforming into a carnival! They are beyond grateful for all of the gifts provided by you. I let my students know that someone very special wanted them to have these snacks and gifts! They are extremely grateful and said, "I can't believe someone would buy us gifts!" Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your contribution and for making a difference in their lives.

We will continue to use the math materials and tent on a weekly basis. The snacks were devoured in order to keep rumbling tummies away. It is such a blessing to have your support and I miss you on Twitter Missy! I want you to know that I appreciate all you have done for my students and I this school year. It feels amazing knowing that there are people out there cheering on our future leaders! Thank you for putting smiles on 20 little humans who love learning! We send you many hugs! XOXO”

  • Kids Just Wanna Have Fun!

    Funded Dec 4, 2019

I would like to thank each and every one of you from the bottom of my heart! It is because of your kindness and generosity that I am able to provide my 3rd graders with games to have fun during indoor recess and/or classroom celebrations. The jumbo Connect Four was the biggest surprise for them because they had asked for it with their list of games but never expected the over-sized version! They stated, "I can't wait to have fun with it, can we put it together?" During our Christmas celebration I allowed some students to open it and put it together. As you can see in the pictures, they were collaboratively working together. They asked for my help a couple of times but with the instructions, and each other, they were able to solve their problems. What a great feeling! You can see my students having a jolly time with their new games in the pictures!

"Let the games begin," they shouted, when the games began to arrive! My students were so thankful to know that the list of games they created as a class, were actually being donated. They exclaimed, "This is the best day ever!" My 3rd graders send you lots of hugs and warm wishes for the holiday season. You are donor angels in their eyes and they wish they could meet you all.

All of the games, Connect Four, Don't Break the Ice, Toilet Trouble, and HeadBanz will be used during indoor recess or classroom celebrations. The HeadBanz game will also be used to learn the meaning of vocabulary words during class. The students will place a vocabulary word card on their headband and the other students will give them clues to help them figure out what the vocabulary word of the week is. Such a win-win with this game. Thank you for making this possible! Kids deserve to have fun in school too, especially after all their hard work throughout the school year. Thank you for making this possible and may you all be blessed with more!”

  • Smooth Running Classroom

    Funded Oct 24, 2019

Thank you so much for choosing my classroom to support! Without you our classroom wouldn't be running as smooth as it is. My students were beyond excited to get new supplies for their group caddies. The highlighters, colored pencils, and crayons are used on a daily basis. As you can see in the pictures, they most recently used them to decorate a Christmas tree and ornaments. They love that the crayons have a fruity smell, but most importantly, that they are twistable and do not have to be sharpened! Hooray for that!

When they first saw the materials they said, "Wow! Are these for our caddies?" and "Can we use these?" I always remind them that the items we receive are for our classroom and that wonderful donors that are cheering them on sent them to us. They jumped for joy while screaming, "THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!"

The headphones have been such a big help while my students are using FlipGrid to practice their speaking skills. They help to cancel out the background noise so that my other students can continue with their daily routine. The dividers helped my students get organized with our new Math curriculum. They divided each section and labeled the tabs so that our Math block can run smoothly. My clean up crew members have been loving the new scent of Lysol. They take turns in the afternoon during clean up time to spray the room while we are getting ready to leave for the day. They say, "Stay away germs," making us laugh every single time!

Thank you for being our classroom hero's because these items were really needed in our classroom and would've been too expensive for me to purchase for all my students. I truly appreciate what you have helped provide my classroom and students with. Your kindness, generosity, an support meas the world to us! Sending you all 20 hugs from Texas!”

  • Keep Calm and Snack On

    Funded Aug 28, 2019

What an impact you have made in our classroom! We thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your kindness and generosity. Our pantry full of snacks is such a hit with my 3rd graders. This is the first school year I have requested snacks and what a difference they have made with my students. As you can see in the pictures, our cabinet is full of snacks that have been donated by wonderful people like you. I will continue to ask for snacks because the benefits are outstanding. When my students are hungry before or after school, the snacks that you have provided ensure that my students will continue to keep their energy. Their growing bodies need all the nutrients they can get, especially while learning. My students look forward to coming to school for their snack because they are hungry or just can't afford any at home.

My students were jumping for joy when they opened the boxes! They said, "SNACKS" really loud and then said, "THANK YOU" to all our donors that made this possible. The excitement and joy that filled the room was priceless. Your generous gift is something that is enjoyed by my students every single day. It warms my heart to know that there are such caring people out there who are willing to support our classroom. My students frequently ask about you and wish they could meet you to show their gratitude with a big hug. Sending you 20 + 1 hugs from South Texas! Thank you!”

Twenty-first century skills are an important part of learning and the future in libraries. Preparing students to become lifelong learners and readers is my number one goal. My students lack a lot of experiences that others have because of the area in which they live. Being able to provide them with a learning environment other than what they're used to is sure to get them motivated. My goal is to provide a welcoming environment where communication, collaboration, and learning take place. Literacy, information and digital literacy development will take place in the library.
