  • Art Books for A Healthy Mind and Body

    Funded Apr 9, 2025

Wow! We are so grateful and amazed by your generosity. We love the book and Art connection in our class because our artists love to be read to or read to the class themselves. So much art inspiration comes from books and the connections we make with them. We love when a hand goes up and they say," I made a connection." We learn more about each other and the world outside our art room. With books for our classroom, we can allow the artists to look through the books themselves after it is read. We love our books and the kids are going to be so excited!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. York

  • In Our Golden Klimt Portrait Era

    Funded Apr 2, 2025

Thank you so much for funding our Art Project for our study of the artist, Gustav Klimt. The students will learn to create with metallics using the Stabilo pencils. Having these special pencils that are adaptable for our students with special gifts is so important. We make projects open to all students. That includes finding materials that are easier to use or more durable. My goal is to help them become more independent and confident in their art making. Many students first exposure to art instruction and art materials is our art class. We want the art room to open the world for them. I can't wait to share your generosity with them. I can picture the excitement on their faces. It makes me smile just anticipating their reaction.”

  • Creativity and Critical Thinking with Model Magic in Art

    Funded Jan 11, 2025

The Model Magic you all provided allows all students in our art room to be successful in a make and take project they look forward to all year. From other generous donors, we received new tools to use with the Model Magic. These items are perfect for their smaller hands, process art and a completed clay like ( yet more versatile ) item such as an animal or a bowl. Students can color their item with markers when it dries.

Thank you for choosing our art room for your donation. The students are so excited to learn about the whole process.”

  • Wiping Off Our Wet Feet Before Making Super Art

    Funded Sep 26, 2024

Thank you for the indoor/outdoor mats to wipe our feet coming in and out of our classroom for fire drills. We have used our paper plates and foil for art without worrying about not having enough for 600 students.

Your donations make those unusual or unique items available in our art room. We appreciate you for caring about our artists and our creativity needs. Often times, having enough for all our creative kids and their needs to participate in all our projects takes extra care and we thank you for making that happen.”

    Ms. York

  • Clay Tools Are Retiring, Looking For New Hires

    Funded May 22, 2024

    Hi from the Art Room,

We wanted to say thank you for our new clay tools. To say our students were excited to use them would be a huge understatement. These tools are perfect for their smaller hands and give them lots of creative freedom to explore clays we use in the art room.

We look forward to using them for many lessons to come. Model Magic clay is such a fun way for the students to learn about building and sculpture. They are using their fine motor skills which are so important to develop. They work with others sharing tools and ideas.

Thank you for making these possibilities to open up our art room with clay tools.”

  • Teamwork Makes a Dream Work

    Funded Feb 22, 2024

Thank you so much for donating supplies for our school wide project and it was so fun to have all the families see and even participate in the interactive portions. We were so happy to share this with our families and friends for our evening event. It was truly a collaborative and all round experience which included music and other resources throughout the school.

Our students will soon be arriving back to the art room and I want to plan lots of more hands on activities with your help.”

Thank you so much for donating supplies for our school wide project and it was so fun to have all the families see and even participate in the interactive portions. Because of your thoughtful gift we were able to use these tools immediately. I wish you could have seen the smiles on their faces creating and participating with their families. We got to see the child like joy come out in adults as well.

  • Glue Sticks for Kinder Art

    Funded Dec 31, 2022

You have no idea how having the basics for art projects frees up the creativity in the art room especially with our young artists. Many students don't have the supplies at home so using even the basics is a treat for them. In the art room everyone gets art supplies. You get art supplies! And you get art supplies!, We all get art supplies! 😊

We have done so many fun projects and almost all of them require the supplies you provided. We have done art inspired by the world around us and beyond. We have created special projects that the artists have given to teachers, school staff and loved ones. ❤️

Your gracious gift also allows us to buy special supplies because our basics are covered. This week we are using clay, so exciting for all the artists. Again thanks for making our art room a fun place to learn and create with mistakes welcome.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. York

  • Books: Exploring Our World From Our Art Room

    Funded Dec 13, 2021

We have been taking a trip around the globe in art class this year. Our friends are young and many rarely leave our town. The books we were able to get for our classroom from your generous donation allowed us to see all the places we wanted to go. Over 500 students learned about long ago and today in many locations around the world. We learned about cultures of people and habitats of animals. We enjoyed the community we shared reading our books together in the art room before we began art projects highlighted by the books. A favorite this year was the Greedy Zebra. The children used printmaking to make their zebras and collage to make their habitats. The artists, the staff and the parents loved the project. We have gotten great feedback about using our books with the lessons because the kids love the inspirational stories and images. We still have many books to enjoy and many on our wish list for next year. Thank you for encouraging their love of reading and the visual arts.”

    Ms. York

  • Help Our STEAM Team Get Our Dream Books

    Funded Dec 26, 2017

Our art classroom received valuable books for our STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art, and math) projects. Our art room has over 500 visitors a week and in the time we received the books, we had an afterschool group working in the art room, too. The students were so excited about using the new materials. We used sticker portraits and tape art projects directly from the books. We have started working on other ideas from the books as well especially 3 dimensional projects. We plan to use more resources and books when we start our summer academies. We thank you from Appomattox Primary school.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. York

We embrace technology as a tool for arts integration and communication. We need to make our pursuits portable so we can transport our learning to the highest level. We currently do not have an iPad and Ms. Y has reached her limits with her phone and borrowed items. We have a STEAM group, work with various groups and locations in and around our building and maintain an online gallery. We share our love of learning and resources with our local and online community. Help a small town school keep our window to the world. We are little, yet mighty creative.
