One of my goals as a teacher is to create an environment that helps my students achieve their greatest potential in academic and social skills competences. My students have shown an interest in dinosaurs and I am using this interest to expose them to the world of dinosaurs. Since we have a limitation on school trips, I would like to create a dinosaur unit that allows my students to make new discoveries without having to leave the classroom. I do not have materials to engage all students in the dinosaur unit. I am asking for a Dinosaurs, Dinosaurs Big Book Activity Kit; two Dino-Dig Excavation Kits, a ZipBin Dinosaur Collector Storage Toy Box Playmat; a box of Clean Sand; a set of Dig It Up! Dinosaur Eggs; a Kinetic Sand Dino Dig Playset; a copy of Fossils And History: Paleontology for Kids; and copies of eight books including Digging Up Dinosaurs. My students all thrive off of routine and structure. By introducing activities like being a Paleontologist for a day and having the opportunity to excavate dinosaur fossils, my students will be able to learn and play within a comfortable and safe environment. Donations to this project would not only help my students develop their love for dinosaurs, it will allow students to learn using a multi-sensory approach. In this unit, we will study dinosaurs through various children’s books. The students will also learn about dinosaurs through the eyes of a professional. With these supplies we can do the work that Paleontologists do on a daily basis. All students will be excavating dinosaur eggs and have a chance to make their own dinosaur model.
