My students will gain independence and opportunities to take ownership of their learning by applying 21st Century skills. While gaining meaningful and valuable methods to communicate their thought processes. In addition to practicing and integrating educational experiences of all subject areas with the use of 2 Apple iPads. We will use iPads to research topics of interest to read non-fiction text in age appropriate leveled readers on Science A-Z, Scholastic News, BrainPop Jr and Pebblego websites. These websites allow my students to have non-fiction text at their reading levels. This provides independent practice to integrate learning in meaningful methods. Students will practice literacy and math skills with access to I-Ready for reading and math lessons. This will help my students reach 45 minutes per week in each domain as we have made this our school wide academic W.I.G. (Wildly Important Goal) for the school year. We aim to "Strive to 45". Research indicates a student can achieve one school year's academic growth if they complete 45 minutes of i-Ready lessons with due diligence on a weekly basis. Students will take ownership of their learning to document their learning in all domains with the use of the SeeSaw app that we use to create an online class journal. Students may take photos, videos and include audio recordings of their school work to showcase and demonstrate their learning. This is also used for parent engagement and partnerships. SeeSaw is an app where parents have access to view ONLY their own child's class journal entries. Students will communicate their learning and thought processes by creating videos to answer academic questions and thought processes through their learning journeys on various topics with the use of the website flipgrid.com. Students are able to verbally express their learning with this application.
