  • Online Leaning Math & Language Arts

    Funded Dec 20, 2022

Thank you very much for funding this awesome project. My students love learning with online websites. The activities engages them and all components of the site encourages reading. Wow!! This is a wonderful way to start off the new year to encourage students to keep making gains and self efficacy. Your generosity is greatly appreciated.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Cotton

  • Stem and reflection activities for every ability level!

    Funded Jul 18, 2022

Students are using the items as enrichment activities for science. Thank you very much for donating to this project. Students were able to use the engineering process to make predictions about the project. Students made the item and then tested it out to see if energy was created and if the item functioned. Of course, another bonus to this activity, students were creative and added some modifications to the original design.

I think the students will decide what the next step will be. I am hoping that they will be so excited about their learning, that they will want to write about it and give a presentation about what they learned. Eventually, they will use items from home and show alternative forms of energy.”

  • Stem and Creativity

    Funded Apr 28, 2022

Thank you very much for investing in our project. My students rose to the occasion and started creating interesting projects. The pens were a little challenging to use, but my students persevered and created interesting items. They planned their designs, and made modifications on their own.

The majority of the students felt proud of what they created, but the best part is, if they did not like it, or if the item fell apart, they made revisions. Everyone felt a sense of accomplishment. This activity enhanced learning for all of my students.”

  • Informational Reading Increases Engagement!

    Funded May 5, 2022

My students are just crazy about Scholastic News! We start reading the weekly magazine on Wednesday, and students end up taking the magazine home on Friday to share the stories with the family. Students are slowly gaining an appreciation for informational reading that covers national and international news topics.

My students especially love the debate section of the magazine. We use that portion of the magazine to learn other students' point of view and for students to share their point of view during our whole group classroom discussion.

The digtial portion of the magazine is another component that my students are enjoying. They love viewing the videos and making the connection to the print material and it increases their understanding of the subject matter.”

  • Equity and Racial Justice for Everyone!

    Funded May 5, 2022

Equity, Diversity, and Me. Those are powerful words that students of color need to be empowered with in order to help them identify themselves. The stories that I selected and purchased by you, my donors, allowed students to see themself, and their situation in a story. To give it a name and allow them to feel empowered. The students were delighted to hear me read "A Book About Racism" and "A Book About Belonging." Both stores were relatable to my diverse classroom. Students were able to share stories and give examples of how they overcame feelings of isolation.

While everyone did not share personal stories, they enjoyed reading stories from different perspectives. Including the now Supreme Court justice Sotomayor to Native American stories.

Thank you very much for your generous donations and for helping my students to become lifelong learners.”

  • Social Emotional Learning, and self-care.

    Funded Apr 14, 2022

My students were very surprised at the personal items. Throughout this term, they have been reading and rereading the social-emotional books and definitely using the fidget toys. The material are helping students get in touch with their feelings and process their emotions. The children especially loved the bean bag. The bag allowed them to go into their private spot and process their feelings along with a fidget toy or book.

Of course, the girls loved and appreciated the personal hygiene items. They were delighted to receive the little personal purse that they can reuse with their hygiene items.

Since I have a fairly large classroom, these items are used on a daily, and weekly basis. Hopefully, I think learning will last a lifetime. Thank you again for your generous donations to my project.”

Thank you so much for funding this project!! I’m excited thinking about the STEAM projects my students will be able to create-things beyond my imagination.
