  • Fuel for Fun

    Funded Aug 7, 2024

Thank you so much for your thoughtful and generous donation. The snacks donated will provide students with opportunities to stay for extra help, trips and prevent afternoon hunger crashes. There is no better feeling than being able to provide someone with a snack when they ask for it.

My students were so excited when they saw ALL THE BOXES. They know Ms. Crowley's room is place they can come if they need a snack! The pictures provided do not provide an accurate assessment of the impact your donation has made. I purposefully do not show a child's face when displaying pictures because I want to protect their privacy.

Again, thank you and without you these children would not have these snacks.

    With so much gratitude,

    Ms. Crowley”

  • Imaginative and Illustrious Images

    Funded Sep 21, 2023

I can not thank you enough for supporting my students and I. The precious gift of ink on demand has been a complete game changer for my students and I. Images that contain vibrant color catch my students attention and provide detail that is often lost in simple black and white images.

Ink is incredibly expensive and purchasing this ink on my own would not be sustainable. Thank you for providing the financial resource to give my students the images they deserve. Having a printer and ink in my classroom has allowed me to concentrate on learning and instruction, as opposed to waiting in a copy room, to make subpar copies.

Again, thank you so very much. This wouldn't work without your generous gift.

  • Super Scrabble and Fabulous Fidgets

    Funded Nov 9, 2022

I can't thank you enough for your generous donation. The students were over the moon to have snacks, fidgets and calming strips to help regulate their mood. Every student has a calming strip on their notebook and has access to a multitude of fidgets. We have also create a calming corner in the back of the room.

This week we will sharpen our lexicon of language by playing Scrabble. Students can learn and challenge themselves to synthesize new words by playing Scrabble. They can also reinforce basic math skills as they tally scores. Moreover games teach cognitive flexibility.

Last, but by no means least, the soap and wipes have helped us move through one of the worst season of cold and flu in years. Keeping shared spaces and fidgets clean is an effective way to mitigate the spread of germs.

Again, thank you for consistently supporting my students and my work.”

  • Rock Down to Electric Avenue

    Funded Aug 9, 2022

We learned so much about potential and kinetic energy while having a LOT of fun. We engaged in STEM rich activities by building balloon cars and crafting roller coasters. The dominos were used to create a contraption that moved a ping pong ball without using your hands. The students really enjoyed themselves.

This would not be possible without you. Materials cost money that most public schools do not have. By funding this project you may have inspired the next mechanical engineer who will solve some of the problems facing as the climate changes.”

  • Spectacular Science Images!

    Funded Sep 20, 2022

There is no way to quantify the impact this has had on my instruction and my students' learning. Having access to vibrant, crisp images on demand has truly been a game changer. The constant inefficient scrambling in the morning to find a place in the building to make copies has been eliminated. That time is now spent planning with my coteacher.

Any learning supports for my students can be printed in the classroom. Students get what they need in the moment. Have a functioning printer and ink, in your own classroom, is considered a modern day miracle.”

  • Snacks! Snacks! Snacks!

    Funded Aug 9, 2022

I can't thank you enough for your generous donation. These small snacks make a LARGE impact. Students who stay for extra help or who come to school without breakfast- now have a variety of healthy snacks to choose from and enjoy! The students have been super excited with all the options and it has provided me with an enormous sense of relief. I know have what they need when they're hungry.

I plan to submit another DonorsChoose in the spring. Hunger has no place in the classroom. Again, I am so thankful for your generous donation.”

  • Food for Thought

    Funded May 4, 2021

I can't thank you enough for the nourishing and delicious snacks. My students and I greatly appreciated these snacks for students when we traveled on community building trips and when we worked together during office hours.

Healthy snacks are more expensive; It's easier and cheaper to pick the snacks with saturated fats and high amounts of sodium. Offering students a healthier option and exposing them to healthier alternatives is powerful. Having healthy snacks easily accessible for students is a huge gift.

Your generous donation was enjoyed by 6th graders at UNMS. Sometimes it is the smallest things that yield the greatest impact. Healthy snacks help students stay focused and keep hunger at bay.

    In gratitude,

  • Be Well. Live Well. Stay Well.

    Funded Jul 29, 2020

I can't thank you enough for your generosity during this unprecedented pandemic. The brain models, yoga mats, nutritional guidance plates and snacks are all valuable tools to help students develop a coherent narrative about what wellness looks like to them.

The brain models were used when we learned about the different parts of the brain and the emotions they were responsible for in our bodies. The model was a useful tool for making abstract concepts concrete and tangible.

The snacks were devoured by the middle school students. Students were delighted to eat snacks such as baked veggie crisps or protein bars and learned to make better choices when selecting snacks. The wellness plates will further educate students on what and how much belongs on their plate to stay well.

Sadly, we will have to wait till next year to use the yoga mats. Vital pandemic protocols have curtailed their use in my classroom this year. I plan to start a wellness club next year and incorporate these mats into our meetings.

Thank you for giving my students the tools they need to advocate for themselves and make healthy choices. Stay well.”

  • It's Electric!

    Funded Aug 13, 2019

I can't thank you enough for your generous donation! The students were excited to use the circuit kits and their engagement was a beautiful thing to witness. The ability to put into practice, what you learn in the classroom, is a powerful. Access to these materials is critical to inspire thinking and problem solving. The challenges the planet will face in the next hundred years will require students who can critically think and have a strong foundation in physical science. You have helped cultivate a love of science that will transcend this 6th grade classroom.”

    Ms. Crowley

Students learn best by doing. These science kits will allow them to have a unique opportunity to engage with real scientific apparatus. It's rare that any science department has the lab equipment to give students the opportunity to think and act like a scientist. Using Snap Circuits, converting one type of energy to another, and understanding the basics of how magnets operate are valuable steps in understanding the foundations of science. Imagine my students excitement as they construct a siren or a photo sensor, a flashing light, and design working electrical circuits. We must prepare students for careers in the STEM fields if we want to solve the problems ahead of us. Sparking curiosity and having the tools to seek answers will help us build our next generation of scientists.
