  • Math and Language Arts Come Alive

    Funded Sep 27, 2019

I have used the binders to organize students work and organize worksheets that the students will be using. I have used sheet protectors to put worksheet in so that the students can write on top of the worksheet and it can be used over and over again. The sheet protectors also help protect worksheets so they do not get damaged. In addition the place value chart is assisting the students with learning about place value to the billions and past the the thousandths. Thank you are allowing my students to learn.”

    With gratitude,

  • Word Building Magnetic Phonics

    Funded Sep 5, 2019

Thank you for donating to the classroom. My students have enjoyed playing with the long vowel sound magnet letters. They learning and experiencing how to spell words with long vowel pattern words. They enjoy do the hands-on activity to make long vowel words. They also like the other magnet activities such as the vowel team activity and the R-controlled activity. Getting to move the letters to form words assist them in the learning process.

They also enjoy experimenting with new ways of learning. They are more engaged in the activities and tasks they are being presented. The students knowledge of how vowels are used in the English language has improved their skills.”

  • Magnetic Math Manipulatives

    Funded Aug 11, 2019

One of the ways that have assisted the students in there is using the addition and subtracting magnetic board. The students get to move the pieces into the tens and hundreds place. The students put the pieces onto the ones, tens, and hundreds. They get to group the ones into the tens and the tens into the hundreds with this hands-on activity.

Another awesome activity is the math puzzle zero to ten. The students will count the objects on one of the puzzle pieces and then find the number that matches. They get very excited when they get a match.

The students also enjoy playing with the links that they put on the number. The students pick an elephant number piece. Then they say the number and start to put the links onto the puzzle piece. They will count until they get all the links for the number. Again, they get excited about doing the activity.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Linderman

Math Manipulatives are an important part of the early childhood curriculum because children can use them to practice a wide variety of skills. Math has many areas -- patterns, measurement, geometry, statistics, probability, and more -- and they're often unfamiliar, abstract, and confusing to students. We need to help children develop the ability and confidence to find their way around in each of these areas, see how they connect, and know what to do should they forget a fact or procedure. Math Manipulatives help make abstract ideas concrete and build students' confidence by giving them a way to test and confirm their reasoning. Math Manipulatives are useful tools for solving problems and make learning math interesting and enjoyable.
