  • Build A Better Library

    Funded Sep 24, 2021

Thank you for the mica color powders, chargin block, carrying case and bed risers. The bed risers have truly transformed the library. They helped raise the tables that are sitting too close to the chairs. Now the kids have more room to work and are comfortable in the library and it's changing space.

And what is a library if children cannot charge devices. the charging block helps as phones are in constant need of an energy source. As we build out our fabrication lab, children have the opportunity to explore, learn and grow. They tinker and make and your donations to the makerspace area help them do exactly that.

Thank you and God bless you!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Wong

  • Project Back To School

    Funded Sep 25, 2021

Thank you for donating to Project Back to School. The laptop chargers, art bins, paints, dry erase markers and smart notebooks were very helpful in setting the school library up for success. Many children do not have supplies to start the year and librarians provide for the whole school, so your contributions went above and beyond if making sure the learning community is always prepared and ready to learn.

As our space has changed and children are learning in more flexible patterns, we have adapted and met their needs. The donated resources have truly helped us to adapt and helped to make learning flexible.

Thank you again and God bless you.”

  • Project Library Learning Commons

    Funded Sep 24, 2021

Thank you for helping provide greater equity. In seeing all the districts' school libraries, out school was somewhat more basic and behind. We started this project before summer and it is finally all coming together. By focusing on the needs of the children, flexible spaces and comfortable furniture, we have started to make the LMC a place where kids can tinker, explore and build what they can dream of.

You donation helps us to build student choice, voice and ultimately agency. It won't be long before you hear about our kids winning awards and making a tremendous difference.

Thank you again and God bless you!”

  • Artists Make the World Amazing

    Funded May 7, 2021

Thank you for supporting graphic arts, design and creation in the school library learning commons. We have transformed from a room of books to an active hub where students love to come. Your donation allows them to create, learn design concepts and principles and also express themselves. This fosters greater student choice and voice, which ultimately leads to more student agency. Agency will make our communities better and brighter and change the world.

Thank you for your time and support of public school children and school libraries.

    God bless you!”

  • Project Fab Lab

    Funded Aug 26, 2021

Thank you for supporting making, innovation, fab labs and school libraries. We are excited to use a Cricut machine, make vinyls and T-shirts and just have fun creating. With making comes failure and that helps kids learn how to problem solve, regroup and thinking outside of the box. This creates resilience that transfers over to academics. When you make learning fun, children are excited to get started and do more as they learn faster.

Thank you for your generous donations. We will start designing and planning first with water bottles. We cannot wait to get started. The kids are thrilled to have the chance for hands on learning that is fun, different and personalized.

Thank you again and God bless you!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Wong

  • #FillEveryShelf With Books, Books & More Books

    Funded Jul 4, 2021

Thank you for supporting literacy, journal writing and reading in the school library. These journals will help kids start the year off right. We will have all the kids back together again! We are excited to have kids in the library like old times. The library has undergone a transformation over the summer and these journals will be given out to patrons. They will help the reflective process. They will help to stay organized and they will help to clearly articulate goals, dreams and assist with follow up.

Thank you for your generous donation! God bless you!”

  • We Are Young Adults In The Library

    Funded Jul 20, 2021

Thank you for funding flexible learning in the library. The kids will be so excited to get tables that will allow them to eat in the front of the library before entering. These tables will help control the mess and any garbage from eating. The tables help them practice being good adults, citizens and community members as they transition into being young adults. The tables will also teach responsiblity and help them to self- regulate.

We love that the tables also help foster a more flexible learning environment as we remake the library to be learning commons and a fab lab.

Thank you for supporting learning, libraries and public schools. God bless you!”

  • Journals = Reflection & Growth

    Funded Jun 25, 2021

Thank you for allowing the library to foster more literacy through journal writing. Your donations purchased journal and students ae learning the value of reflection and being more analytical. The journals will foster more inquiry as students write before and after lessons, projects and on issues that might bother them. Journal writing has proven to increase critical thinking and assist in problem solving.

Your donation of writing journals allows students to have access to a wealth of space to write and reflect. Through quiet periods and moments of reflection, we can see into our souls and our true dreams, hearts and desires. Thank you for making these moments possible and for building hope in the future.

Again, thank you for supporting school libraries, literacy and public school education.”

  • Project Transformation School Library

    Funded Jul 15, 2021

We just bot the wall adhesive paper and cannot wait to begin. Last week the library was painted gray. This paper is both white trees with hints of black as well as separate rolls of gray brick paper. The columns in the school library will have alternating trees and bricks. We are getting started today and I cannot wait to update with pictures. The plan is to get it all done before school starts so students come back refreshed and excited about being back in person and with their cohorts of friends.

Thank you for donating to this project. Thank you for supporting school libraries and making a difference in public schools!

    God bless you!”

I am an 21st year school library media specialist in the public schools in an urban city school district. There are approximately 2,250 students that come through my library doors. I believe in setting high standards and stimulating a child through the use of art and technology to further develop academic skills. I believe that children need to be provided with opportunities to communicate, collaborate and create. Fostering a love of literacy and providing children with choice will build innovators, leaders and a culture of creativity. Support school libraries as they help to equalize the playing field.
