  • We Are Young Adults In The School Library

    Funded Apr 27, 2021

Thank you for funding flexible learning in the library. The kids will be so excited to get tables that will allow them to eat in the front of the library before entering. These tables will help control the mess and any garbage from eating. The tables help them practice being good adults, citizens and community members as they transition into being young adults. The tables will also teach responsibliity and help them to self- regulate.

We love that the tables also help foster a more flexible learning environment as we remake the library to be learning commons and a fab lab.

Thank you for supporting learning, libraries and public schools. God bless you!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Wong

This classroom project was brought to life by Allstate Foundation and one other donor.
  • Can We Cricut in the Fab Lab?

    Funded Apr 7, 2021

Thank you for supporting public education, school libraries and making and innovation. The cricut will allow children to tinker, explore and design. They will have the chance to be creative that they do not often have during the normal academic day.

The kids love doing hands on stuff. This donation will enable them to make shirts, hats and mugs. Many have expressed interest in learning about business and doing a startup. Fostering maker skills and innovation will help fuel that fire. They are so excited to get started and cannot believe complete strangers want to invest in them.

Thank you and God bless you!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Wong

  • Can We Cricut?

    Funded Mar 28, 2021

We are so excited to begin to implement making and the fab lab / makerspace with a Cricut sublimation mug press. Kids will have the ability to think outside of the box, practice design thinking and participate in hands on learning. They cannot believe that complete strangers want to help and they strive to be better each day so they can one day pay it forward.

Thank you so much for your generous donation. When you care about at risk and high need public school children, you care about the future and aim to promote greater equity in both education and in life.”

  • An Apple a Day Makes Creators Play

    Funded Mar 22, 2021

Thank you for updating library technology and making the library and learning a priority. This will facilitate the beginning of a fab lab and makerspace. Kids will create on a 3D printer and a laser printer/engraver. Through programs like Illustrator and Tinkercad, scholars will use technology to solve problems, innovate and tinker.

Your generous donation has enabled us to lead future ready learners that will become our next leaders. It has also enabled us to transform the school library into learning commons.

Thank you and God bless you!”

  • Learning Is A Duet

    Funded Feb 9, 2021

Thank you for helping support creation and wi-fi access in public school libraries. The device will allow us to access many different sites. The water bottles can be personalized with names and designs by the kids. This will allow student creativity and hands on fun.

The kids will be so surprised that complete strangers care and want to help their learning. We are excited to make, tinker and create in the library.

  • #HackingDistanceLearning - Part 2

    Funded Feb 9, 2021

Thank you for supporting this very important project!

The book #HackingDistanceLearning will help scholars to be the best students they can possibly, be right where they are. They will learn how to overcome learning obstacles and rise higher academically and personally tips, tricks and techniques of learning styles, utilizing librarians, implementing feedback and so much more.

The best part is kids will be more engaged, do project based learning and get more out of both hybrid, remote and later in person learning when all kids return.

Again, thank you and God bless you for supporting libraries, learning and public school children.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Wong

  • Learning Duo

    Funded Dec 23, 2020

Thank you for contributing to this project. The Surface Duo allows access as a camera or hand held tablet. We have used it to record and document events and learning transpiring during hybrid learning. The attached slide show will show signage during Black History month, getting ready to learn how to use a 3D printer and makerspace activity in the library.

This is a great tool since most kids only know Apple products. The Surface Duo gives all users the ability to learn and explore PC/Android usage as the navigation is different.

Thank you for supporting learning, technology in creation and public school children. God bless you!”

  • If You Can Dream It, Then You Can Draw IT

    Funded Dec 30, 2020

Thank you for funding a virtual visitor and artist. Now more than ever, it is important for kids to see art, illustrations and creativity. Having an artist talk to them and show the process is not only motivating, but also inspiring. The biggest take away and strong lesson was to never give up. Our visiting artist and illustrator emphasized how we will all come to obstacles but to keep pushing through them. And kids also got to see that what starts as a hobby or something fun can become an occupation or something you make money at.

Thank you again for making learning fun and interesting and stimulating library patrons to go above and beyond in their endeavors.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Wong

I am an 21st year school library media specialist in the public schools in an urban city school district. There are approximately 2,250 students that come through my library doors. I believe in setting high standards and stimulating a child through the use of art and technology to further develop academic skills. I believe that children need to be provided with opportunities to communicate, collaborate and create. Fostering a love of literacy and providing children with choice will build innovators, leaders and a culture of creativity. Support school libraries as they help to equalize the playing field.
