  • Headphones for Reading and Learning English on Laptops!

    Funded Mar 19, 2019

Because our students come from underprivileged homes, the majority do not have access to technology except for when they are in school. Even when they are in school the number of laptops is still limited in the classrooms. This is why we need to have our three technology centers (the computer room, library, and testing center) fully equipped.

The school district and school are continuously moving ahead to increase computer access and accessories such as quality headphones.

For all these reasons, our school and students are very grateful for your generous gifts.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Wills

  • Pioneering Better Family Engagement!

    Funded Dec 28, 2018

Our administration, faculty, and Parent Teacher Organization are so grateful to receive the tremendous benefit of this pioneering teacher-parent engagement technology. Speaking for myself and the team of teacher volunteers, we are enthusiastic about the ongoing training to share the learning platforms with the parents of our students. By means of this technology, we are looking forward to experiencing and documenting a new and exciting form of collaboration with our most important partners, our parents.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Wills

  • Headphones for Hardworkers

    Funded May 14, 2018

The scholars at my school frequently do not have computer access in their homes due to there coming from underprivileged families. Thanks to your gift of headphones, they now have the ability to appreciate the fullness of our school district and school literacy programs.

It is very important for the school to use our computers and headphones for literacy for these students due to the fact that they are 70% English Learners who need to hear their new language properly spoken.

Many thanks for your kind generosity in this effort.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Wills

  • Exciting STEM Books to Energize and Engage Scholars!

    Funded Oct 2, 2017

It is with great gratitude for the generous gift of dozens of STEM books for young readers in our school. STEM learning is a top priority for our school that is located in a metropolitan area full of STEM-oriented job opportunities. We want our scholars to start thinking and dreaming about STEM opportunities from a very early age. This is also the desire of our parents and guardians.

Our scholars are always so delighted when they receive gifts from organizations and people outside of our school.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Wills

  • Puppets for STEAM Reading!

    Funded May 4, 2017

Thank you so much for your generosity for the cause of literacy at our campus. The puppets and STEAM resources are invaluable because our young scholars are primarily Hispanic and mostly English Language Learners. Puppets are very popular in their culture.

I am using the puppets for STEAM reading by having the scholars listen to STEM books and then stimulating puppet-oriented discussions by the scholars. The students were so excited when they saw the puppets and STEM materials. They are so impressed to know that outsiders are interested in their education.

These materials will next be used in a project to promote the selection of STEM books in the library. We happen to have a large bilingual collection of new books to choose from.

Once again, many thanks for your wonderful generosity to our scholars.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Wills

  • Spanish and English Graphic Books for Eager Readers

    Funded Sep 20, 2015

My students were so pleased to receive these wonderful short graphic novels by AKJ Publishing. They love how the books are so easy to read and, just as importantly, how the books are so fun to read.

One student said, "I am so happy when I can finish reading a book on my own!" Another student told me, "There are so many surprises. I don't know what will happen next."

Since reading a book repeatedly is a good literacy exercise, these short graphic novels are a valuable resource for the children.

Thank you so much once again for thinking of our students!”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Wills

  • Sensational "Speakaboo" Books Build Literacy

    Funded Dec 14, 2013

The "Speakaboo" literacy software is a most valuable resource for my younger students and English Language Learners.

The students are enchanted with the presentations that are concise, high frequency word-rich, and full of delightful visuals, music and sound effects. We oftentimes will watch a presentation more than once to learn and understand the story, song or rhyme and then put together a student skit.

While we have initially been using the software in group presentations, a good number of the students are now approaching a level of confidence that would allow for individual use.

As always, the students are so pleased to know that someone who they do not know is interested in donating towards their learning.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Wills

  • Special Comic Books to Motivate Early Readers

    Funded Oct 18, 2013

My students are simply amazed at the quality and relevance of this wonderful set of TOON Books for their transition from graphic reading to word reading. There are so many exciting titles and adventures to look forward to in the weeks to come. They are astonished that outside donors would be so generous to them.

We will be using the TOON Books in conjunction with the teacher resources as soon as possible. These resources will also be shared with other teachers and students in an efficient manner.

Our Title I Hispanic school has reading as its top priority. We are all so grateful for these graphic comics that will help so many students for years to come.”

  • Literacy For All!

    Funded Oct 6, 2013

Many thanks for your most generous donations on behalf of our Early Readers who are in Spanish classes. These Early Reader Spanish books are an invaluable resource to our students. The school is preparing the students to reach proficiency in their language at home so that they will have a strong foundation for their transition to English proficiency.

Our students are always amazed to witness how people unknown to them are so interested in their progress. The gifts themselves are a source of motivation to all.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Wills

  • Books Needed for Early Language Learners

    Funded May 5, 2013

Many, many thanks for your generous support of the underserved Hispanic students of our school with the gift of these high quality Spanish books for Early Language Learners. Our library has a big shortage of Spanish books that are relevant to most of our early readers. We look forward to sharing these books with as many young readers as possible in our library. Our intention is to help these children to build a firm foundation in their native language in preparation for their transition to English classes.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Wills

My school is a Title I neighborhood school. We have a universal free breakfast and many of my students get a free lunch. We are proud to have a long waiting list of students who want to study here. Our school is 97% Hispanic and almost all of my students are transitioning from speaking Spanish home setting to learning to speak, write, and calculate in math at school. Less than half of my students' families have computer access at home.
