We need a color printer to print their scripts, iPods and headphones so that students can read and write their scripts as well as to record and edit their performances. Accessibility features are built into several technological devices. Students with special needs are sometimes too ashamed to use the assistive tech that is designed for them. Students will learn to use current mobile technology to support their various learning needs in lieu of assistive tech. They have already learned how to edit film using iMovie and will be editing their theatrical performances recorded on iPods. This year, they will be embarking on a Reader's Theatre Workshop to support reading fluency! Through self modeling students will strengthen their reading abilities! In addition, they will use individual headphones for the text to speech feature on the iPod to read text on their grade level. They will also use speech to text features to create original scripts for performance. Including these technologies will provide them with the support they need to become more independent learners. The printer will be used to organize their scripts and develop Playbill quality theatre pamphlets. My kiddos will be using technology for production not just consumption!
