My name is Miss Holliday and I am a recently hired library teacher in New Jersey. I split my time between two, Title I schools that service a diverse group of students in grades K-5. As the library teacher, I aim to make an inclusive and cozy learning environment. Every day, I am seeking input from my colleagues, my students, and their parents on book choices. I consider their recommendations so that the books I offer my students act as mirrors and windows. Afterall, diverse readers make inclusive leaders – and that’s who I am teaching! My students are enthusiastic, bright, and creative. I want them to enjoy their time in the library, feeling comfortable to explore new settings and meet new historical figures and characters through the books I share with them. I hope you will help me introduce diverse books to my wonderful students and join me on this new journey as a library teacher!
