We all learn in different ways. That is a fact. I want to be able to teach each one of my students in a way that makes sense to them and help them be the most successful. I have done some testing and research and the majority of my students are kinesthetic (movement) and visual (sight) learners. I have the movement part down in my classroom with my alternative seating and active engagement. I need help with the visual part. My students need to be able to see an example of what we are working on projected on the big screen. This can happen if we have an Elmo document camera! Problem solved! This magical piece of technology is similar to what we used to use an overhead projector for but so much better! My students will benefit from having this technology in so many ways. One way is that I can project pages of a book we are reading together. This is a way for everyone to have a their own copy of the book to look at but in reality we only have one. Another way to use it is to have students demonstrate math concepts under the camera. For example, as the student describes how he is dividing 24 cookies among 3 friends, all of his classmates are seeing what he is talking about on the projector screen. The uses are endless in a classroom!
