  • Fueling Healthy Bodies in P.E.!

    Funded Dec 31, 2024

These food group resources have been a fantastic addition to our class!

Students have been coming in to school telling me the healthy food choices they made at home or away from school. Students have had so much fun learning about fueling their bodies with nutritious food while getting some great exercise at the same time during their P.E. class.

Students in grades 3-6 played the Healthy Helpings My Plate Game

Students in grades kindergarten through second grade used the food group bean bags and the MyPlate game boards to play "Scooter Grocery Shopping Relay Races."

These resources are the foundation of our nutritional learning that we will continue to build on year after year. Thank you again for your generous donation!!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Petty

  • Physical Education Needs Your Help!

    Funded Apr 23, 2021

Your donation has impacted students' interest levels during our time of in-person-distanced learning and also now, as we are back in full swing, regular physical education classes!

This school year, I have been using the projector to show video clips to gain student interest and understanding as we begin new units. For example, before our recess games unit, I showed what it looked like to play four square on a playground so students would have visual concept before learning the rules and playing the game. As we begin our soccer unit, students can follow along with some soccer foot drills being demonstrated on the screen during our warm up of each class if they choose to do so.

At the end of last school year, when we were not allowed to touch any P.E. equipment and were in hybrid and socially distanced learning, the projector allowed me to display activities that students could follow along with to get moving, while keep their social distance.

Your donation will continue to reach thousands of students in the future as I can show video clips about concepts and skills students are/will be learning. Thank you again!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Petty

  • Let’s Get Movin’! PE Equipment Needed!

    Funded Oct 14, 2019

Your donations are impacting the 500+ students I teach each week in such wonderful ways. Their eyes have lit up many times when I pull out the new equipment or when they get to touch a brand new basketball, jump rope or hula hoop!

Thanks to you, students have had the opportunities to learn how to bounce, shoot, pass and catch their very own basketball during our basketball unit. We have been using the poly spots, hula hoops and beanbags to develop overhand and underhand throwing and catching skills too!

The materials will continue to be utilized as the soccer balls will be used during our springtime soccer unit.

I cannot thank you are helping me give hundreds of students a PE class they love coming to! Thank you!!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Petty

This equipment will allow my students to access the appropriate PE standards for their specific grade level. It will allow me to organize my students into small groups to work on specific skills. Having enough equipment will allow my students to practice collaborating with peers outside of the classroom while also building their own confidence and sportsmanship skills. PE class is where most students develop an enjoyment for physical activity. This interest can hopefully lead to a lifetime of enjoyment of physical fitness. However, specific tools are needed to implement many of the activities within the PE curriculum. The soccer balls will assist lower elementary students in developing their manipulative skills of dribbling the ball and controlling it with their feet while my upper elementary students will build on those skills while learning to pass and receive the ball with a partner before participating in small group scrimmages and whole class soccer games. The bean bags, fleece balls, and foam balls will allow students to safely develop their throwing and catching skills with objects of different weights and sizes being thrown. These are just a few examples of how this equipment will be utilized. These students deserve to have equipment to use during their PE classes. Please assist me in helping these children look forward to PE class!
