Test Prep Incentives
Funded May 7, 2024Thank you! My PSAT and ACT Prep students have hit the ground running. They have learned what to expect in each section and tips for being both efficient and effective in selecting their answers. They have also completed one released practice test and reviewed the questions that they missed.
Today, we had our first team competition - where students worked in small groups to answer released questions. This collaborative time is imperative to their success, as they have the opportunity to hear how others attack a question and either learn new strategies or solidify their own practices.
Our first challenge resulted in 2 teams missing only 3 out of 44 questions and scoring the highest in the class. Thanks to your generosity, they were excited by the idea of playing for gift cards - and they are excited for our next opportunity to compete!”

Funded Jul 18, 2024THANK YOU! We have hit the ground running with both ACT and PSAT prep. Students have taken notes on every subject test and looked at sample questions to practice the strategies explained. Then, they have worked through their first independent test, utilizing the strategies in an attempt to raise their scores. They have been honed in and focused - and many of them are already seeing increases in the scores. Knowing that they will need repetition and reviewing questions that they are missing for several weeks to see the biggest gains, I decided to reward their initial efforts and focus with a mental health break. Uno, Spot It, Happy Salmon, and What Do You Meme were instant hits - and they LOVED having the opportunity to relax and play games! (And it did wonders for this teacher's heart to hear so much joy and excitement in interacting with each other!)”

Funded Aug 14, 2024Thank you! I welcomed students this week with a snack basket - and it was a welcome treat! They were so excited to see the basket - and genuinely appreciative of the thoughtfulness. The gesture was met with smiles for every student - and there were many "thank you's" said as they realized the snacks were for them! Thank you for helping me to find ways to bring joy to my juniors and seniors - having these snacks not only brightened their moods, but it also helps them to focus in the long stretch before our 1:15 lunch! You are the best!”

Funded Apr 10, 2024Thank you! Our juniors and seniors had an amazingly memorable night. Over 200 students and dates headed back to our campus for our annual festival - where we celebrated their achievements during this past year! It was so fun to watch them with no stress - just being kids for a few hours.
Students played games, sang karaoke, did crafts, and won really cool prizes. Many of our students say that this is their favorite event of their entire high school career!
It is a huge undertaking to organize, and we are grateful for your support to get prizes that our juniors and seniors were thrilled to have the chance to win!”

Funded Jan 17, 2024Thank you so much for helping me keep a stocked snack basket in my classroom. In our district, January has been a doozy... we had flooding, iced roads, and a broken water main - all of which closed schools or forced us into virtual learning. The one constant that we have had are snacks in room 203! Students grab a snack as they enter - and are able to remain focused and engaged until their 1 PM lunch time.
We appreciate your generosity - and are blessed to have the support of our community! Thanks for keeping our snack basket filled this semester!”

Funded Nov 8, 2023Thank you! These timers were an amazing addition to our class. I got a group of students to come in during lunch to unscrew the backs and cut the wires attached to the alarm. Once the wires were cut, they were soundless and acceptable timing devices for ACT.
When the December test rolled around over 50% of my students checked out a timer to bring with them to the testing center. Having this timing device gave them confidence - and allowed them to use the strategies that they used in class. They could monitor the time they spent on each math problem or science passage - and not waste time on things that were taking too long.
Along with other strategies, we saw an average gain of 3 points on ACT composite scores from August to December - with the greatest increase being 8 points!
Thanks for helping us get one more tool to ease the stress of the ACT!”
