Every year I have close to 30 students and that number fluctuates throughout the school year. I have had great students every year. Unfortunately, a big majority are from a very low-income. Regardless of the students backgrounds, they arrive at school eager and ready to learn. Many of them have not had the best of times growing up. Even though their families have had some rough times, they continue to do their best! Sometimes they arrive at school without having eaten supper, or had a rough night due to difficult circumstances at home. These children need to know there are people that care about them and their well being! Everyday I try my best to lend a helping hand and let them know that someone is always there in case they just need to talk. It breaks my heart thinking about the different things I have seen over the years as an educator. This only inspires me even more to prepare these children as best that I can.
