Math from Home Helpers
Funded Aug 11, 2020To say this year has presented new challenges would be an understatement. To say that my students are resilient and meeting the challenge would be a huge statement of truth.
My students and their parents are amazing! With your generous donation I was able to put math manipulatives into the hands of my students from day one. We use these tools multiple times a week. I truly do not know what I would have done if these students did not have these tools in their hands.
Donors like you are making the learning easier and more fun for my students.”

Funded Mar 2, 2020The listening post has been a wonderful addition to our classroom. During Guided Reading I bring small groups to my table and work with them at their reading levels. The other students are at centers working on literacy activities. One of those centers is our classroom library.
My students have always enjoyed our classroom library, but in all honesty, not a lot of reading is going on. With the listening post I have books on CD. The students are so excited to go to the library now. They start by listening/reading a book on CD. They truly are reading along with the book! I can hear them! Once they are done listening they start reading other books in our classroom library.
The students who are benefiting the most are my lower readers. I allow them to listen to the book as many times as they would like. As the listening/reading goes on, I hear them reading along with the CD. It really warms my heart. Without your generosity, this would not have happened.”

Fairy Tale Characters Come to Life!
Funded Dec 3, 2019My students knew that we posted this project, and as you can see, they were super excited when the package arrived. They couldn't wait to start putting their minds to work building the projects needed for these literacy centers.
When my students learned that they had to build an actual raft that would float on water for the Gingerbread Man, they said, "We can't do that!" I told them that they might just surprise themselves. And as you can see, they built a raft and floated the Gingerbread Man. It can't get more hands on than this!
Our next project is a listening post. Students learn to read by listening to others read. It is how they build their fluency, and love of reading. We would love a listening post for the students to use during guided reading centers. I have books and CDs, we just need the listening post.”

Funded Oct 24, 2019Every day we spend time practicing writing both letters and numbers, and we practice drawing. Kindergartners know they don't do it 'right'. At least not like we see it in a book. They need to feel safe practicing their writing and drawing. And being able to do that on a dry erase board gives them that opportunity to practice and feel safe knowing they will just erase it when they are done. For example when we were brainstorming words that begin with the letter s, they could practice sounding out and writing the words on their board. It was great to see them trying and succeeding!
The first day we used the materials they were a bit confused. What were these? Real erasers and not cut up pieces of felt that are all different sizes and dirty! And the boards weren't peeling and all stained. My students were so excited to see the clean, shiny boards and the very cute erasers.
Please keep checking back. We are going to be needing literacy centers very soon. And with great supporters like you, we should be able to make that happen no problem.”

Funded Oct 24, 2019You have added so much enrichment to my student's school experience. I have the paints all set up on our classroom easel and the kids are having so much fun creating. At the end of each day we spend 30 minutes with free exploration. Students can choose from many centers, one now being painting. They line up wanting to paint that special picture. One student painted her grandparent's house that she visits in Florida. She had such a big smile on her face while telling me about her visits.
I had opened the boxes and lined up all of the paints on the counter in our classroom. The next morning when the students came in their faces lit up. They were so excited with questions like, "Are we going to get to use the paints?" And when I said yes, the smiles got even bigger.
Our next project will be more hands on, project based learning materials. Hands on learning makes such an impact on these little lives. And you help provide that.”

Funded Jan 9, 2016Back in the day, kindergarten was half day, nap time, learn to play nice with your friends. Today it is very academic. We need to have these students ready to go on to first grade where they need to be able to read and write. And start writing up their reports on the computer. What better way to prepare them than to get them started on the lap top?
As soon as we had the new lap top, I started spending time with students one on one to help them with a typing program/game. They loved it! They started to make the connection between finger placement and letters.
This has been great for my students who needed another challenge. And they are taking it on!”

Funded Oct 9, 2015I don't think anything I write here could capture the excitement my students shared when they saw our new math centers. The great part is, I have been introducing them as we start to study the new areas of math that these centers support. This package has been the gift that keeps on giving. Patterns were fun, but building ten? Don't get me started. The inchworms were a huge hit.
Whole class lessons have an impact. But when two to four students get together and work cooperatively with hands on tools, it not only makes an impact, it is also fun. To see the look on their faces when they realize that fun game just showed how smart they are is priceless. You gave them that.”

A Spot for Everyone!
Funded Oct 21, 2013Thank you for donating to this project. Your generous contribution has made it possible for my learners to have a "SPOT" to call their own. This carpet will be used every day by the students. If only you could have seen their faces when they saw the colorful carpet. Their faces were filled with so much joy and excitement!
I cannot express how grateful we are to have your support! It means the world to us knowing there are others that care about our education. Once again I would like to express my gratitude and appreciation for all that you have done for our children and their learning!
Thank you for your support!”

Laptop for the Little Guys
Funded Dec 14, 2011We wanted to take a few minutes to say thank you for your generous donation to our classroom. We LOVE our new computer! Your donation has made it possible for students to have more time working on math and literacy programs one on one and with a small group.
We are also able to use the computer to share information with the entire class. We can hook it up to the document camera and whatever I have on the computer, the students can see on the big screen. Laptops are great!
My students thank you!”

Mrs. Cimins
