Let's Play Math Games Part 2!
Funded Sep 18, 2024I can't thank you enough for helping to complete my set of iPads for my small groups. I now have 4 iPads so that every student in my group can have one, which of course is very exciting for the students.
Prodigy and Education.com have been particular favorite games for students to use on the iPads. Both these sites allow me to select material aligned with Common Core. I can even assign videos and songs on Education to help review material for specific students who need more practice with the skill. These sites present the material in fun ways (one of them is similar to Pokemon)!”

Funded Nov 8, 2023I can't thank you enough for your generosity! You donations have allowed me to set up two iPads to use with my small groups. I have access to math sites and apps that have songs, stories, and games for students to apply their math skills. Using the iPads is so fun that I don't think my students even realize how much learning is happening!
For my older students, I have used this technology as a motivator to finish their work. The educational technology programs allow me to privately set their math questions on the individual grade level that student needs. Their game can look the same as their peers, but are adjusted to just the right level for them.
I have seen an increase in engagement and confidence with this technology! Thank you again!”

Funded May 15, 2019I am so grateful for the generosity of all of you! With these bands, my students will be able to get out their wiggles and jiggles, while staying focused on the lesson. Thank you all again for helping me make my classroom a place for all my students to succeed.”

Funded Dec 31, 2017Thank you for contributing to my professional development. I was so sad and worried when I received notice that the Growth Mindset Conference had been canceled. But then the people at Donors Choose were so wonderful and let me apply the tuition to the Advanced Responsive Classroom course. It took place over 4 days this summer. This program aligns with growth mindset and stresses social emotional learning.
I learned ways to be more creative with my morning meetings, building community while integrating content. I learned about academic choice and how to engage different types of learners. I learned about closing circle as well. In the pictures you can see some of the closing circle questions I am using. You can also see the cool down strategies students can use at "Take a Break". And I'm doing growth mindset teaching as well, with students nominating each other when they see them using the "power of yet"!”

Adding Technology Part 2
Funded Jun 8, 2016I'm so fortunate to have generous donors to provide my classroom with this technology. I now have a way to charge all 5 tablets at the same time so that the tablets are ready for student use.
My students have enjoyed reading books on their level and it has helped my struggling and most advanced readers have access to more appropriate books. We are also now starting to use the tablets to practice our multiplication facts. The tablet is way more fun than their flashcards!! It's been a great motivator and a more engaging way to do some of "skill and drill" math that helps students' fact fluency.
I'm continuing to look for more and more apps that help make learning fun! And thanks to you, this will reach more students!”

Funded Dec 16, 2015Dear Donors,
Thank you so much for helping our class get these tablets for our classroom. My students were very excited about being able to go on tablets at school! The tablets are compatible with many of the educational websites that our school has subscriptions to. For example my kids can access their RAZKid's reading account on the tablet. This is a valuable way for students to read books on their reading level during our independent reading time. They are already better at "swiping" the pages than I am!
We can also use the tablets to practice our math facts on IXL and to go on math games! The tablets have become a great incentive for students to finish their classwork and then log on for extra enrichment. Learning the same skill on electronic equipment is just so much more fun for them!
Thanks again for your generosity!”

Funded Jun 3, 2015I can't begin to thank you all so much for your contributions! My students were so excited to see brand new seat sacks with their names on them! My classroom is already so much more organized with the addition of these products. Because we have tables and not desks, there isn't any space for other individual storage. Students usually keep their book bags in their lockers, so they need the seat sacks to keep track of their materials. Students keep their pencils and erasers in the top pockets. The bottom pocket is used to keep a "just right book", a 100 chart, and an unfinished work folder.
This means that when students are completing math work, they always have a chart to help them with their addition and subtraction (and soon to be multiplication and division). Students don't feel self conscious over asking for this aide since they all are able to have one right at their seat. We keep any work that is unfinished or needs corrected in the seats sacks, this allows students to be held accountable for getting their work done and helps them stay organized by filing work by subject in their folder. I can easily see which student needs support by checking how much work they have to do. Students loved picking "just right" books that they can read on their own from my library. Now when they complete their work, a book is always available to start reading. They get very excited when they complete a book and get to swap their seat sack book. The seat sacks have helped boost my students' learning across subjects, thanks to all of you!”

Ms. W.
