Our world continues to become more technologically filled each day. My goal, as a teacher, is to equip my students with the knowledge and skills necessary for a successful college and career ready future. A technology rich learning environment is just as essential as a paper and pencil to help students increase their learning and acquire a deeper understanding in all content areas. Chromebooks can be an essential tool in our ELA block. Small groups can practice learning core vocabulary, sequencing events, and comparing texts by the same author. Chromebooks will also enable students to publish more pieces of writing, edit using the technology of a device, take suggestions from peers and their teacher, and even collaborate on research projects. The technology available to enhance learning in the math content area is limitless. Reluctant mathematicians often become willing participants when given a game to practice with! In Social Studies, we can virtually visit Greece and Rome and have access to a plethora of resources to compare these Ancient to modern lands. With these Chromebooks, my students will be able to participate in collaborative group projects, integrate digital tools into their work, and have daily access to my Google classroom with both ELA and Math curriculum materials. Each student in my classroom has a student user Google account. All work done on the Chromebooks can be completed and saved to this account. They can work on them at home by simply accessing their Google account. When assignments are completed, they can electronically hand them in. The dog will be unable to eat this homework! I hope anyway! Your donation will help increase student learning, engagement levels, and create a more technologically fluent community of learners.
