  • GGGOOOAAALLLSSS for Practice!!

    Funded Oct 12, 2016

Words can not truly express how much your donation meant to the soccer program at Bradwell Institute. The portable goal helped our program in several ways. First, it was much more efficient. In years past we had full size soccer goals which would take approximately seven players to move. Everyday we would move the old practice goals on and off the practice field. The portable goals we were able to get because of your donations only requires two players to move the goal. Secondly, the portable goals has helped to train our goal keepers. It is extremely important for keepers to train using a full size soccer goal. Our keepers were able to better understand how to cut off angles and make the goal smaller for the opponent to score in. They were also able to use the goal to practice setting up walls for free kicks right outside the eighteen yard box. Thirdly, the portable goals has helped us to become better technically sound finishers. Due to the efficiency of the goals my attackers were able to complete more finishing drills. They were able to take the goal to a smaller area of the practice field to work on scoring goals while I worked on other technical or tactical skills with the rest of the team. Again, thank you so much for investing in the life of student athletes. Our program has truly gotten better because of your willingness to give. Thank you, thank you, thank you.”

  • Soccer Highlights to Get Into College

    Funded Jul 29, 2016

My soccer team and I are very grateful for your generosity and support. We were able to purchase a video camera that allows us to record each game. I use this as a teaching tool to help my players by going over footage from our games. This helps my players get better at their craft.

My team and I are very excited to have the ability to help players receive exposure from colleges. My soccer players are very talented and deserve to have every chance to be able to play soccer in college and receive scholarships. Your donation is changing the lives of my players all thanks to your generosity.”

  • Scrap the Desks and Get Flexible Seating (Part 1)

    Funded May 30, 2016

My students and I can't even begin to thank you for your generosity. Each day when my students walk into the classroom, they know they will be relaxed and comfortable as they are learning and completing assignments. My students are individuals and all learn in different ways, so it's only natural that I provide flexible seating to my students.

When my students first entered the classroom at Meet the Teacher night, their faces lit up. They were ecstatic that they had different choices of seating that would allow them to complete their work in a flexible manner. I plan to continue using flexible seating with my class and future classes, and I would like to order more furniture and flexible seating to give my students more options with their seating.”

  • Balling Out Of Control

    Funded Jan 27, 2016

The soccer balls have been a tremendous help to my soccer program. Everyday they are used to make practice run more efficiently. This past season we have made great gains as a program. In 2015, we finished season with a 3-9-2, and this season we finished 8-7 playing many of the same teams. I firmly believe the improvement was because of the soccer balls which made drills more productive.

When we received the soccer balls my athletes were very excited. One of athletes said, "Coach now we don't have to share when doing our technical touches!" Another athlete said, "These are way nicer than our old practice ball!"

As their coach I'm ecstatic for our future. We are making great gains every year. I'm already working on another project to help my athletes to get into college on soccer scholarships. This past season we were able to send three to college, and I'm looking to increase that number every year.

I'm extremely grateful for everyone's generosity in getting this project funded. The success of this program is a direct reflection of everyone's willingness to give and the work ethic of my athletes. Again thank you so very much for your support and monetary gifts.”

    With gratitude,

  • Bend it Like Beckham!

    Funded Nov 20, 2014

Thank you so much for donating to this wonderful project. Our athletes were so excited when we received our project material. Especially my defenders who are typically in the wall when we are practicing free kicks. One of my defenders said, "Coach, so now I don't have to get hit in the wall at practice anymore?" Another athlete said, "Now with the pug goals we can have more 3 v 3 tournaments!" As you can tell the equipment went right to work.

Since receiving the materials my midfielders have improved on their free kicks tremendously. They are scoring more goals from indirect and direct kicks outside of the 18 yard box. We have also been able to control the ball in much smaller spaces due to the use of the pug goals.

Overall the team has gotten better thanks to your generosity, and they are able to understand the game of soccer much better.”

  • Getting Faster, Stronger, And More Agile

    Funded Nov 19, 2014

Words can not express how thankful I am for each and everyone of you who supported my soccer team with your gift. The players were extremely excited about the equipment we received. One player said, "Coach the agility sticks are pretty cool." Another said, "I can't wait to use the parachutes."

We used the equipment to help prepare us for soccer season. It is extremely important to our success to be be in shape. My players have gotten considerably faster. They also have more agility. We have used the equipment at every conditioning practice.

Again I would like to say thank you for your gift. It's very humbling to know that there are people who care about making sure students and athletes get the equipment they need to be successful.”

  • The Bare Essentials

    Funded Aug 12, 2014

On the behalf of my second grade students, I would like to thank you for your contribution to "The Bare Essentials" project. Teaching in a low social economic community, and dealing with the daunting challenges of the economic crisis is difficult. However, your contributions have made this year much easier.

My students have been able to use the materials to complete projects, take assessment, and create posters. Often times we take for granted having the small stuff such as pencils, pens, glue sticks, and etc., but for my students they are hard to come by. Often times the only materials they have are the ones provided here at school. This year I have had the ability to send materials home with my students because of your support.

Words can't truly express how thankful I am for people like you. You have made such a positive impact on the lives of 40 second grades.”

  • Hot Dots For Math Fluency!

    Funded Jul 1, 2014

Thank you so much for your donation to the project "Hot Dots For Math Fluency." Your donation has impacted thirty-four second grade students in many ways.

My students were very excited to use the Hot Dots when they arrived at my classroom. Every nine weeks we set goals for Math Fluency. Each nine weeks their basic math facts scores should increase. Since the students have been using the Hot Dots many students' goals have already doubled. This skill has made adding multiple digit problems much easier for my students.

I can't say thank you enough for your donation. You are helping my kids to make great gains in their understanding of math.”

  • Come to the Carpet! Let's Read!

    Funded Jun 28, 2014

Thank you so much for your donation to the project "Come to the Carpet and Read." Your donation has impacted thirty-four second grade students in many ways.

When the carpet arrived at the school the statements and expression of my students was priceless. One of my students stated, "Mr. Oglesby I love our new carpet. It's so pretty." Another student said, "The carpet is very colorful, and now we all have our own spot when we come to the carpet." Finally every one's face lit up with a great big smile.

We have also used the carpet for instruction. We used the squares to learn about addition arrays and the beginning development of multiplication. The students were able to visually see rows and columns. Then they were able to practice different arrays.

I can't say thank you enough for your donation. You have made my classroom a brighter, happier, and more engaging place for students to come and learn.

    Thank you,

    Mr. Oglesby”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Oglesby

Do you remember when you walked into your second grade classroom? You did not notice there were classmates who wore the same clothes multiple times a week. You also did not notice that your friends came in hungry because they have not eaten since lunch the day before. Everyone was equal! Race, money, and family did not matter. You all had dreams to conquer the world. My class is the same. Even though I have students who come from broken, financially poor, and uneducated homes they all believe they can conquer the world. Please help me in supporting my students' dreams of conquering the world. One project at a time.
