My students spend one block learning outside. We integrate the outdoors into our curriculum, especially science. Our current project is investigating our habitat in our outdoor classroom and then we will move into a weather/climate unit. We are very grateful to have the freedom to venture outdoors daily and are encouraged to take advantage of the opportunity. We go out in all types of weather including snow and rain. My students all have winter gear but lack proper rain gear. My hope is for my third graders to not be held back from learning and discovery even when it rains.
