  • Learning About Financial Literacy Through Distance Learning

    Funded Aug 13, 2020

During quarantine and not having to toggle between screens and doc readers on zoom, these materials were quite the blessing. I was able to use the materials with ease and keep the students as engaged as possible.

The materials were wonderful and super handy. Through the use of visuals with the pattern blocks, base ten blocks, and dry erase board- all magnetic!! And, the router made for better connection too. Teaching through zoom was definitely much easier!

These materials are now being used in the classroom as great visuals still. Thanks so much!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. T. Yang

  • While Learning Financial Literacy From the Mailbox

    Funded Aug 25, 2020

Thank you so much for your donation to fulfill this project.

The stamps, envelopes, and cards were a delight to students to send to each other during quarantine time. They were able to make a connection through other means. It was definitely fun to see them show each other the letters they received from their classmates.

Now that schools have been back in-person, I am still encouraging making that connection and promoting literacy through cards and letters. Students write letters and pictures enclosed in envelopes- this is in hopes to create a great desire to connect in person.”

  • Distance Learning With One Smile at a Time

    Funded Aug 23, 2020

Technology is so crucial these days. Kids seem naturals at it in this digital age. Sometimes their interest and ability to preserve the moment is as fast as a swipe. Having have this project funded helps to capture some of those moments and preserve it a bit longer, especially for the parents.

The camera has allowed me to capture more moments in the classroom for each individual student, but also with each other, with their friends. I have been able to capture clips of students to share with their families during Open House. It's been a pleasure to watch parents' eyes light up.

The laminator has been a personal favorite. A mom thanked me for laminating her son's pictures and handprints to help preserve them longer.

Thank you so much for your donation!”

  • Mail a Smile

    Funded Sep 30, 2020

Thank you so much for your donations to fulfill the purchase of stamps for my classroom.

During Covid quarantine, it was great for the students to be able to connect as much as possible and away from the screen. Students were able to send each other pictures and build a relationship with each other. Being able to send letters also encouraged the students to write and read- both essential to grade 1.

Being able to have stamps also allowed for parents (and myself) to be able to have ease in helping the child excel in their creativity and desire to connect. Thank you so much!”

  • Young Learners Maximize Reading Time With Organized Classroom Library

    Funded Dec 6, 2018

Thank you so much for your donations toward baskets in our classroom library. The students were super excited when I unboxed the gift. Everyone was in awe and pleased with joy. Their little faces lit up.

Having these baskets allow books to be separated by genre, level, and interests. It helps to keep the books organized and also easily accessible/mobile for students to just grab the baskets to go, which makes learning time maximized. The best part is that the baskets fit right into the shelves so space is also maximized.

    Thank you so much!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. T. Yang

  • Mindful Bodies Cultivating Our Own Energy

    Funded Apr 10, 2018

Thank you from the bottom of my heart. It was such a privilege to teach these wonderful humans become more mindful of their personal energy and attitude. I have taught 16 years prior and it was such an amazing experience to see the difference in how aware these kids were of their emotions. Most were able to recognize that they could shift the situation by taking a deep breath to calm themselves and/or taking notice of how their bodies feel in order to respond to a situation. Being mindful also meant that taking notice of sounds, sights, and sensations (such as drinking water) at any time of the day.

At the beginning of the school year, it definitely felt a little strange for the students to sit with their eyes closed. Most peeked and giggled with their peers. As the year went on, the students became more appreciative of the quiet sessions of deep breathing after recesses. Additionally, they recognized, labeled, and shared their emotions during circle time. Some kids were able to resolve their little quarrels with little or no adult intervention, which made a world of difference for me around March- when teacher burn out is usually at an all time high. Again, Thank YOU!”

    Mrs. T. Yang

  • No More Crooked Cutting! We Need A Cricut!

    Funded Mar 27, 2018

Thank you so much for the love and support to help our projects become more fun and creative in a shorter amount of time. As I am still learning the basics of the Cricut, the first project was the gumball machine. This project was to record and keep track of the number of sight words each child read. It saved a lot of time with cutting but students were still able to decorate it.

The students were a little puzzled when they first saw the Cricut machine. They weren't sure what it was used for, but when the students were able to see the Cricut in action, they were amazed at how a little machine could cut and design their papers.

The next steps for the Cricut machine are to be able to design some more decor to place around the room, create labels and classroom passes, along with getting geared up and ready for the first months of school.

    Thank you so much”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. T. Yang

Having a Cricut, cartridges, and the workmats (to cut the papers on) will be a starting point to aid students to be more creative in art, math, and writing projects. This will allow the students to be more productive rather than have to spend more time cutting (and sometimes recutting) for a project. The Cricut will allow students more time for projects than just to prepare for one. The project will help with sight words, reading, math projects, but mainly art. Having objects pre-cut and prepared ahead of time will allow the students more time to be creative and imaginative.
