  • Let's Make a Hydroponic System

    Funded Aug 18, 2024

Hydroponics is an easy way to grow lots of food in a small amount of space. We are currently trying to construct a larger hydroponic raft system to add to the amount of food we can grow in our raised beds. We finally got more soil to fill additional beds and now we just have to plant more seeds for seedlings to put in the hydroponic systems. If we can produce a lot of lettuce and other leafy greens, we would be able to send home healthy vegetables with our students to improve their diets one step at a time. We appreciate your generosity in helping us to get the supplies we need to do these things in class! Mahalo!”

  • Garden to Table Cucumbers and Tomatoes

    Funded Nov 5, 2024

Mahalo for helping us to get the supplies we need for this project. The cucumbers have not been successful, but the tomatoes are better. We just have to keep trying new things and hope for the best. One day we will find the best growing conditions for our own cucumbers to make pickles and all the yummy things! We have used our tomatoes in a stew and ate some straight from the garden, but we need to plant more for sure!! Thank you for supporting our projects and giving my students the supplies they need to thrive! We appreciate your generosity!”

  • Let's Fill Some Beds!

    Funded Oct 14, 2024

We are diligently working to clear more space to put more raised beds down and it's looking awesome! We love the raised beds we have and they are growing lots of flowers, herbs and vegetables that we will be able to harvest and prepare in class for all of us to share. Many of my students are trying new vegetables they have never tried before and they are pleasantly surprised when they not only like it, but want to grow more to share at home. Thank you for giving us these opportunities to grow as a class, as well as human beings to become better than we are right now. We appreciate all your support!”

  • Fun Food Fridays

    Funded Jan 21, 2025

Thank you so much for helping us to get more supplies for our Fun Food Friday celebrations! We cook the vegetables that we grow and make delicious things to share with our classmates. Sometimes the food is better than others, but the roaster pan makes it so convenient. Thanks again for all the support!”

  • The Holidays Are About Giving

    Funded Nov 30, 2024

The residents at the senior living complex near our school was so grateful for the items that you helped us to get for them! Even though we didn't make it for Christmas, the items will still be able to be used anytime. They were glad to get the things like toilet paper, tissues and dish towels because many of them receive food stamps, but it can't be used to buy other things they need. In the future, we will try to have more things donated for them and see if they can use that too. Thank you again for helping my students bless others during the holiday season of giving!”

  • Tools for the Garden

    Funded Oct 7, 2024

We are always working in the garden and we always need tools of all kinds to make it easier to do all the things we need to grow beautiful vegetables, herbs and flowers. The tools from this project make it easy for us to have plants that grow and produce food for us to eat. We are continuing to expand our garden, and we have a few more raised beds to construct and fill with soil before we can plant more food. We appreciate your generosity in helping us to get these supplies and we hope it will enable us to grow lots of food to share with our classes, our families and eventually our community!”

  • We Need More Coco Coir!

    Funded Oct 28, 2024

Our raised bed garden has about 30 raised beds and that takes up a lot of soil! We are currently using a mixture of garden soil, potting mix, earthworm castings and steer manure. Adding the coco coir has made a very nice, well draining soil that the plants seem to like growing in. However, the beds outside in full sun dry out a lot faster with the coco coir so we are just using it inside the shade house raised beds because those stay hydrated longer. Everyone is enjoying watching the plants grow and produce food we can start to harvest soon. This new year will bring new plants and new ways to prepare the bounty so that my students can share their experiences with their family and friends. Mahalo for giving us to opportunity to learn new and delicious things!”

  • Banana Sundaes Coming Up!

    Funded Oct 3, 2024

The banana ice cream cones were a hit! And we forgot to take pictures! So we just have to do it again and take pictures then. The kids said it was delicious, even if it was a little softer than they would like. Next time we will freeze it longer and see if that makes a difference. Thank you for the opportunity for my students to have these kinds of treats on Fun Food Friday. They never know what to expect, because we always eat whatever happens to fall into our plates for the week. But they never complain and they are always appreciative, especially if it tastes exceptionally good. We always appreciate your support and I always tell them to thank our donors whenever we do anything in class. Mahalo again!”

  • A Plethora of Period Products

    Funded Oct 1, 2024

Our school provides period products for our girls, but they are not the thin ones that the girls really want. In times of emergency, any feminine product will work, but if they have a choice, they would much rather have the "good" brands. Tampons are also not provided and many of our girls prefer those. With your support, we were able to get a supply that will last us a few months and everyone is so appreciative. They come from way across campus to our bathroom because we have the "premium" pads. Thanks to you all we are the coveted bathroom on campus! Mahalo again for your support!”

  • A Wall of Flowers, A Lifetime of Learning

    Funded Sep 9, 2024

Our sunflower wall is coming along nicely and the kids are excited to watch it grow! Our garden is filling out and everyone is excited to be able to harvest our first batch of greens to sample for Fun Food Friday. We have marigolds and vinca blooming now and our kalo is getting bigger by the day. We appreciate all the support we get from donors like you and we hope you will continue to follow along on our daily journey in agriculture class to see what we can grow next! Mahalo again for your generosity!”

Agriculture has been a part of my life for many years. I am the fifth generation to live and farm on our coffee and macadamia nut homestead. My lifelong dream to be the Agriculture teacher at the high school I attended has finally come true. I have made it through my first year and I think it was a raging success. There are so many ideas bouncing around in my head and I hope I will be able to bring them to fruition.
