  • Storage, Storage & More Storage!

    Funded Nov 28, 2021

Having all these shelves and storage bins will really help us put away all the stuff we have in the classroom in a neat and organized fashion. It will also help me go through all the stuff and get rid of the stuff we really don't need. Thank you so much for supporting our classroom and giving us supplies we need without having to pay out of pocket.

Having shelves that roll will make it super easy to move out of the way when we need to clean the floors or move desks around. Thank you for your generosity and we hope you will continue to follow along with our class to see what else we come up with in the future. Mahalo again!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Tina Alcain

  • Marie Kondo, Bring It On!

    Funded Nov 23, 2021

The first shipment of our shelves arrived today and we couldn't wait to put them together!! Now we just need storage containers to put on there and we will be all set! We cleared out a table that was cluttered and full of stuff that could be thrown out and we replaced them with two shelves that can be rolled out of the way if we need to.

Thank you so much for donating to our classroom! I'm blown away by how much my students have done this year since we started in-person school and a lot of it has been because we have so many awesome supplies from Donorschoose! Mahalo again for your support!”

  • Will Work For Treats

    Funded Nov 23, 2021

Food motivation is real! The kids saw the snacks and asked "What do we have to do to get snacks??" They work so hard in the garden and on the farm and I am so thankful we can have these snacks during the day when we need a pick me up.

The water cooler and Gatorade were a hit when we first got them and now they are even more excited for snacks! Now we just need our shelves and storage containers so we can put everything in it's specific place. Thank you for generously donating to the many things we do in class and we appreciate all of you!! Mahalo!”

  • Let's Bowl!

    Funded Nov 17, 2021

Sports were finally allowed not too long ago and bowling was one of them! Our three bowlers this year were so happy to finally be able to bowl! But they said the balls at the alley were so horrible and their fingers kept getting stuck. Luckily for them, your generosity allowed the team to get three team balls that they will be able to use for many seasons to come. A past bowling standout from our school is now a pro shop owner and has graciously agreed to drill the balls to fit upcoming bowlers every year. Mahalo for your generosity for our bowling team and they appreciate your support in getting them new balls!”

  • Racial Equity Through Cooking

    Funded Sep 19, 2021

We have been using our stove and pots and frying Pan a lot for our Food Fridays but I forgot to take pictures of us making our Japanese Hayashi rice. So I put in pictures of chicken kalamungai instead. We have been using lots of herbs and vegetables from the garden and the kids are getting to try new things. They love it and I love being able to do these kinds of things with them. They will remember these days for a long time. Thank you for giving us the opportunity to learn outside the box and having supplies we would not have otherwise. We appreciate your generosity and hope you continue to follow along with us for future projects. Mahalo Nui Loa!”

  • Let's Get Labeling!

    Funded Nov 13, 2021

This label maker is going to be such a fun addition to our classroom and make organizing things such a breeze! It took a little practice but so far the labels are coming out pretty nice and we can't wait to start labeling all the containers to put on the new shelf we should be getting soon.

We were finally able to empty a cabinet of stuff and our plan is to Marie Kondo everything we put back! Thank you for your generosity in getting these fun supplies and please keep checking back for more projects and pictures! We appreciate you!!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Tina Alcain

  • Clean Up Time!

    Funded Nov 2, 2021

Basic materials like these trash bags and soap is something you think the school should provide you with. But when there is a shortage you end up providing it for your classroom yourself. Thank you for donating to this project so that we have the supplies we need to keep clean and safe everyday.

The broom is much smaller than we expected, and from now on I better pay closer attention to dimensions, but it was a great laughing, learning experience when we unboxed it. It still serves its purpose and we have used it a lot in the classroom. We appreciate your generosity and hope you will continue to follow along to see what other projects we come up with. Mahalo again!”

  • These Beds Aren't Made For Sleeping!

    Funded Nov 1, 2021

We just received our raised beds in the mail today and we can't wait to put them together and get them out in the garden! We have scoped out the areas we think we might want to put them and will double check once we get the beds assembled as to what looks the best. We think they will go alongside our fenceline and have the beans trail up the fence for easy harvesting.

Thank you so much for supporting our classroom and the great projects we have to do for the farm! We are learning so much about different aspects of agriculture, expecially the things the students can do at home with their families. We appreciate your generosity and hope you keep in touch with our projects and see all the pictures we post for you!

    Mahalo Nui Loa!”

  • Weeds Be Gone!

    Funded Nov 1, 2021

Weeds, weeds, and more weeds! We are slowly getting rid of all the weeds around and in the garden and on the farm and putting down weed barrier to make sure they don't grow back. The new gloves we got are awesome because they have claws that we can use to dig into the dirt and loosen all those pesky weeds. We haven't received the mini-trash cans yet, but when we do we will be sure to take those pictures. We are so happy with all the supplies we have received this year! It's making our work much easier and we have accomplished so much since August.

Thank you so much for supporting our classroom and for giving us the supplies we need to get stuff done. Our garden is looking awesome and we can't wait to start harvesting more to eat in class!

    Thanks again!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Tina Alcain

  • Cover It All Up

    Funded Oct 5, 2021

Weed barrier is something we cannot have enough of on the farm. We are putting it down everywhere we can to help keep the weeds from being able to sprout. Through the years we have learned the best way to put the mat down for the greatest results, and we thank you for giving us the supplies we need to keep our farm looking well kept and manicured.

We used the weed barrier in the greenhouse to keep anything from growing and we hope to not have to battle the weeds in there ever again. We also put some down today in our new Mamaki area to keep it clean and weed free.

Thank you again for supporting our classroom and giving us the supplies we need to learn as much as we can about agriculture and how it affects our lives. Mahalo!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Tina Alcain

Agriculture has been a part of my life for many years. I am the fifth generation to live and farm on our coffee and macadamia nut homestead. My lifelong dream to be the Agriculture teacher at the high school I attended has finally come true. I have made it through my first year and I think it was a raging success. There are so many ideas bouncing around in my head and I hope I will be able to bring them to fruition.
