Our Bee-utiful Garden Beds
Funded Feb 19, 2022Sorry we had more pictures to upload but for some reason it wouldn't let me upload them. Thank you for your generosity to our classroom and for helping us get supplies to use in class to help not only us but the bees and butterflies as well. We have lots of things growing in the raised beds and we will be able to harvest radishes and beets soon to learn how to prepare in class. Our class is super fun and we get to go outside to get fresh air and sunshine. Thanks again for being our classroom angels!!”

Thank You Bags for Everyone!
Funded Mar 16, 2022The snacks to fill the thank you bags are in and I'm excited to write the personalized thank you notes for all my kids. Sometimes even the surliest student softens when they are complimented or just spoken to in a caring way. We don't know anyone's story most of the time, and I'm hoping these Goodbye Thank You bags will brighten up the day of my students and send them off on a positive note. If I can let them know how much I appreciate all their help this year, maybe they'll take my class again next year!”

Help Us Fill Our Garden with Beds!
Funded Mar 4, 2022We finally got our raised beds in the mail after being backordered for a little while and we got them all made and ready for the garden. The older kids put them together and the first year kids get to fill them and plant them. We cleared the area previously and it was ready for the beds this morning. We filled each of the beds with logs and branches and filled it almost to the top with leaves and sticks and then filled them with dirt, compost and potting mix.
We will leave these beds for a little while before we put some seedlings in them to grow. We want to plant some beans to crawl on the fence and maybe some peas and flowers like sweet peas and marigolds. Or we might plant corn in all the beds and see if it does well with more corn plants around. There's so many possibilities and we have you to thank for it. Mahalo for supporting our classroom and we hope you are able to keep in touch and see what other projects we come up with in the future!”

Funded Feb 28, 2022Mahalo for supporting our classroom with the seeds we need to grow in our raised bed garden. We got some new beds that we filled and planted various seeds to have seedlings to go in the beds. We planted sunflowers, peppers, kholrabi, spinach, swiss chard, marigolds, lettuce, and lots more. When the seeds emerge we let them grow till they are about 2 inches tall then transplant them into 4 inch pots. We harden off those seedlings and let them develop strong roots before we put them into the beds. We have also direct sowed radishes, turnips and beets into the beds and everything is looking awesome! Thanks again for supporting us!”

Instant Pot to the Rescue!
Funded Feb 1, 2022We cannot wait to get these open and learn how to use them! We have to do some tutorials first because using these Instant Pots is sort of an art. We got a bunch of cherry tomatoes and we are going to make marinara sauce to eat with spaghetti and we still have lots of parmesan cheese from our pesto project that we can use. We will also be learning how to make Portuguese bean soup with ham hocks (when I can find some at the store) and add in the Portuguese cabbage we have growing in the garden. I'm sure it can't be that hard to master this pot, and the kids said we just have to protect ourselves from the steam. Thank you again for supporting our classroom and I know we will make yummy things in our pots!”

One, Two, Three, Sprout!
Funded Dec 13, 2021Thank you for these cool sprouting trays that we will use to grow sprouts for us to eat and fodder for the animals to eat as well. We put the trays together super fast and now we are just waiting for the seeds to sprout. We ran into some mold issues with the first batch of seeds, but the second batch seems to be growing well. We are looking in to getting a bag of oats or sunflower seeds from the feed store to try and see if they will sprout well for the animals.
Thank you for always supporting the things we do in class and giving us the opportunity to learn new and exciting things that we may not have been able to learn about otherwise. You keep our lives interesting and we look forward to creating more projects in the future!”

Funded Jan 26, 2022We love these pliers and tools for our tool box on the farm! We use them for everything from cutting wires to fixing our hand sifter to wrapping up our pallets that protect our fruit trees in the orchard. We didn't have very many tools before, and now we have enough that we don't have to go searching for something that can help us. We appreciate your generosity in helping us get the supplies and equipment that makes our lives a little easier. Mahalo again for thinking of us! Without donors like you we would take much longer to do the things we need to on the farm!”

Funded Feb 10, 2022Thank you for helping us to continue to build our raised bed garden and for giving us the supplies we need to grow more food in class. Currently the students are mastering the art of planting seeds, and transplanting those sprouts into small pots so they can grow strong roots. We have all kinds of seeds that we are planting, including watermelon, pumpkin, turnips, radishes, kohlrabi, arugula, sunflowers, moonflowers, carrots and beets. The students may not know what all those seeds are, but eventually we will be able to see what will grow and how we can eat it. Thank you again for giving my students the opportunity to learn new things and be able to feed themself and their families in the process. Mahalo for all the support!”

Cleaning Up the Farm
Funded Dec 21, 2021Thank you for the chain saw and blower. They are coming in handy on the farm when we have to clean up the trees and bushes and the blower is great for blowing dirt out of the classroom and shop area. It didn't work so well for the chicken coop dusting but we will figure that out soon. Thank you again for sharing your generosity with us and giving us the supplies we need to make our lives a little easier! We appreciate it!
We hope to keep the farm neat and clean by having these tools and it sure beats cutting trees with the chainsaw than a hand saw! Thanks so much!”

Funded Sep 25, 2021Thanks so much for this project! The kids were so excited when they saw we were making jam today. We had a few mishaps during the first period, but we worked it out and everything worked awesome for our second period. It was so easy to use the jelly makers instead of slaving over a hot stove like in the past. It was just like "Set it and Forget it!". We got to eat the yummy strawberry jam with crackers and everyone enjoyed it a lot.
Thank you for always sharing your generosity with our classroom and giving my students these opportunities that makes their day so much more fun! We always get to do things outside of any box in any other class and for that we appreciate you immensely! Mahalo again!”
