  • A Bee Bath for the Bee Garden

    Funded Apr 21, 2022

Thank you so much for supporting our classroom and helping us get all the supplies we need to have a successful garden and produce all the food we possibly can for ourselves as well as the creatures that come to visit. The birds have been swimming in the bird bath so I didn't put the rocks in yet, but we will try to put them in half of the bird bath and see if the creatures will share.

Having these supplies will enable us to share our bounty with others and learn at the same time. We love having the bees and butterflies flitting in the garden and they serve a purpose by pollinating our beans and tomatoes as well. Thanks again for supporting us in everything we do!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Tina Alcain

  • Large Labels Are Easier to See

    Funded May 3, 2022

This label maker is a game changer! They are huge and easy to see on the containers and everything will have a place now and labeled and easy to find when we need something. Organizing over the summer is my goal before the students return. If I can get everything to have a place it will be easier for me to set the tone with my new classes and get into a routine that's beneficial to the farm and keep everything running smooth. Thank you again for the awesome tool that will make our lives so much easier!”

  • A Southern Black Feast!

    Funded Feb 9, 2022

We had a great Fish Fry-Day today to sort of celebrate Black History month. The students harvested and filleted the tilapia from the fish tanks and we fried them up for everyone in class and talked about how it is a staple in black southern cooking. We were not able to do a whole meal, but next school year we can plan to do the collard greens, black eye peas, grits and hush puppies with the fish fry. Thank you for giving us the means to have fun activities like this in class. We appreciate it immensely!”

  • Bowling Balls Part 2

    Funded Apr 27, 2022

Thank you for the opportunity to add some more bowling balls to the bowling team's arsenal! Now even if you don't have a bowling ball of your own, you can join the bowling team and use the team ball to roll those strikes! Many times students don't join sports because they can't afford the equipment that has to be purchased in order to participate. But by funding this project, you are helping those students that might not join in, be a part of something to become more social, make new friends, and get some athletic activity into their life. Mahalo again for supporting our bowling team!”

  • Plant Propagation Pros

    Funded Apr 7, 2022

Thank you so much for your generous donation to our classroom. We are so excited to use the mini greenhouses in our shade house. We were having problems of the seedlings being too wet and not sprouting so we hope this will solve our problems. We will not use the grafting items until next year but the greenhouses are already up and running and we hope they help increase our sprouting percentages so we can have more plants to put in our garden. Mahalo again for your support! We would not be able to do the things we do without any of you!”

  • New Tools for the Farm

    Funded Apr 7, 2022

These tools are so awesome! When we opened the box and they were all packed up in small little boxes we were wary, but after we opened them and put the hoes and rakes together we found they are actually pretty decent tools. We used them in the garden today for the first time and they work like we expected them to. The hoe is great because it cuts the weeds off at the roots and the rake gets them all in one pile, ready for the compost bin.

Thanks so much for being so generous with our classroom and all the things that we do! We would not be able to have as many awesome supplies and equipment without all of you! Mahalo again for thinking of us!”

  • A Chicken Tractor for the Farm

    Funded Dec 22, 2021

We are actually not able to make the moveable chicken tractor like we originally wanted to because the wild pigs came and destroyed the plot of grass we were going to put the tractor on. So we will use the chicken wire to fix the chicken coop instead and maybe make smaller tractors that can fit just a few at a time. These supplies will come in handy regardless because we are always having to fix something. Thanks for supporting our endeavors! We really appreciate it! And being able to do things outside on the farm makes for a more interesting and fun school day for everyone!”

  • Colored Labels for the Win!

    Funded Feb 18, 2022

Being able to print colored labels for stuff in class has been a game changer! The labels we are putting on our jellies and jams we are making look so much prettier than those black and white ones from the past. We will also use the printer to have colorful name tags for the thank you bags that are being given out in May. Sometimes going that extra mile to make something look extra nice gives it a pop that catches the eye of everyone. Mahalo again for supporting all the things we do in class and I hope you follow along with our many projects to come in the near future. Mahalo!”

    With gratitude,

  • Chicken Health and Happiness!

    Funded Feb 18, 2022

Thank you again for giving us the opportunity to make sure our chickens have everything they need for a happy, healthy life. Our poultry first aid kit is stocked with everything we need for injuries, parasites, digestive ailments and also preventative measures for different things. They love the treats we have been giving them and they love to be carried and spoiled. Mahalo again for your generosity and giving us the chance to have these animals to learn from and care for. The students love to eat the eggs from our hens when we have cooking Fridays and having healthy hens gives us healthy eggs. Thanks so much!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Tina Alcain

  • Our Bee-utiful Garden Beds

    Funded Feb 19, 2022

Sorry we had more pictures to upload but for some reason it wouldn't let me upload them. Thank you for your generosity to our classroom and for helping us get supplies to use in class to help not only us but the bees and butterflies as well. We have lots of things growing in the raised beds and we will be able to harvest radishes and beets soon to learn how to prepare in class. Our class is super fun and we get to go outside to get fresh air and sunshine. Thanks again for being our classroom angels!!”

    With gratitude,

Agriculture has been a part of my life for many years. I am the fifth generation to live and farm on our coffee and macadamia nut homestead. My lifelong dream to be the Agriculture teacher at the high school I attended has finally come true. I have made it through my first year and I think it was a raging success. There are so many ideas bouncing around in my head and I hope I will be able to bring them to fruition.
