  • More Freeze Drying Supplies Needed

    Funded Jan 29, 2025

The freeze dryer is so fun to use! We have been experimenting with marshmallows, gummy bears, fruits and Skittles. We have not done vegetables or meat yet, but one day we will try to do prepared food to see if we can make our own MRE's. That would be impressive if we could. The science behind a freeze dryer is pretty impressive, but the machine itself is simple to use and can make all kinds of yummy snacks. The students have been enjoying the samples we have been making and as we get better and better at making things, maybe we can start making more for the people on campus and in our community. Mahalo again for supporting our classroom and the fun things we do!”

  • Let's Make a Hydroponic System

    Funded Aug 18, 2024

Hydroponics is an easy way to grow lots of food in a small amount of space. We are currently trying to construct a larger hydroponic raft system to add to the amount of food we can grow in our raised beds. We finally got more soil to fill additional beds and now we just have to plant more seeds for seedlings to put in the hydroponic systems. If we can produce a lot of lettuce and other leafy greens, we would be able to send home healthy vegetables with our students to improve their diets one step at a time. We appreciate your generosity in helping us to get the supplies we need to do these things in class! Mahalo!”

  • Garden to Table Cucumbers and Tomatoes

    Funded Nov 5, 2024

Mahalo for helping us to get the supplies we need for this project. The cucumbers have not been successful, but the tomatoes are better. We just have to keep trying new things and hope for the best. One day we will find the best growing conditions for our own cucumbers to make pickles and all the yummy things! We have used our tomatoes in a stew and ate some straight from the garden, but we need to plant more for sure!! Thank you for supporting our projects and giving my students the supplies they need to thrive! We appreciate your generosity!”

  • Let's Fill Some Beds!

    Funded Oct 14, 2024

We are diligently working to clear more space to put more raised beds down and it's looking awesome! We love the raised beds we have and they are growing lots of flowers, herbs and vegetables that we will be able to harvest and prepare in class for all of us to share. Many of my students are trying new vegetables they have never tried before and they are pleasantly surprised when they not only like it, but want to grow more to share at home. Thank you for giving us these opportunities to grow as a class, as well as human beings to become better than we are right now. We appreciate all your support!”

  • Fun Food Fridays

    Funded Jan 21, 2025

Thank you so much for helping us to get more supplies for our Fun Food Friday celebrations! We cook the vegetables that we grow and make delicious things to share with our classmates. Sometimes the food is better than others, but the roaster pan makes it so convenient. Thanks again for all the support!”

  • The Holidays Are About Giving

    Funded Nov 30, 2024

The residents at the senior living complex near our school was so grateful for the items that you helped us to get for them! Even though we didn't make it for Christmas, the items will still be able to be used anytime. They were glad to get the things like toilet paper, tissues and dish towels because many of them receive food stamps, but it can't be used to buy other things they need. In the future, we will try to have more things donated for them and see if they can use that too. Thank you again for helping my students bless others during the holiday season of giving!”

  • Tools for the Garden

    Funded Oct 7, 2024

We are always working in the garden and we always need tools of all kinds to make it easier to do all the things we need to grow beautiful vegetables, herbs and flowers. The tools from this project make it easy for us to have plants that grow and produce food for us to eat. We are continuing to expand our garden, and we have a few more raised beds to construct and fill with soil before we can plant more food. We appreciate your generosity in helping us to get these supplies and we hope it will enable us to grow lots of food to share with our classes, our families and eventually our community!”

Mahalo for supporting our classroom and for helping us to get these rainy day supplies so we can create awesome planter pots for ourselves and maybe for Mother's Day as well. Being able to make something from our hearts and gift it to someone we love is going to be the best gift ever! Mahalo for your generous support and we hope you continue to follow along on our garden journey! We appreciate you!”

  • Supplies for the Outdoor Classroom Garden

    Funded Jan 12, 2025

Mahalo Nui Loa for supporting our classroom and helping us to get the coco coir we need to fill more raised beds in our garden. The coco coir helps with drainage and keeps the soil fluffy and soft so the plant roots can grow deep and strong. We appreciate your generosity and hope you will continue to follow along our garden journey this year!”

Agriculture has been a part of my life for many years. I am the fifth generation to live and farm on our coffee and macadamia nut homestead. My lifelong dream to be the Agriculture teacher at the high school I attended has finally come true. I have made it through my first year and I think it was a raging success. There are so many ideas bouncing around in my head and I hope I will be able to bring them to fruition.
