My students attend a public school in California. They are seven and eight years old and have a huge range of abilities. Some of my students are reading Harry Potter while others are still sounding out "cat." Some students are working on division while other still can't count to 20. I have 33 students on my roster, but I work with over 100 students including EL learners, special education students, gifted students, and more. My students learn in many different ways including auditory, visual, and kinesthetic (work with your hands) learning. They are also saturated in everyday life with TV, video games, cell phones, and other devices. They need a way to be captivated - a way to make them realize that learning is not a stay-in-your-seat, drill-and-kill complacent requirement, but a rich, interactive, untethered experience that unlocks the possibilities of their futures. My students have a thirst for knowledge and have latched on to all the way I have introduced technology so far.
