The materials that I am requesting for my students will allow them to engage in the engineering design process. The materials I am requesting include: glue, construction paper, popsicle sticks, and trifold poster boards. The popsicle sticks and glue will be used to build bridges, while the construction paper and trifold poster boards will be used by the students in their presentations. My students will research the history of bridges, the different types of bridges, and become engineers as they construct and design their very own bridges out of popsicle sticks and glue. Throughout their research, they will read multiple articles, take notes, and partake in a hands-on learning opportunity. They will have the opportunity to test the strength of their bridges and re-design and modify as they see fit. After their bridge construction, my students will present their research and findings using the poster boards to their classmates and families at our annual STEAM Night, where students showcase their learning.
