Weighted blankets help provide relief for the anxiety that often comes with being at school and having a learning disability. Many of my students struggle to focus as a result of social or emotional trauma. Sensory beads and weighted lap blankets will help to alleviate some of the problem. Hunger is also a very real issue at my school, and in my classroom. I send students to the nurse frequently who complain of a stomach ache, only to find out later that they were hungry. A lot of them only eat at school. It is extremely difficult to focus on education when basic needs aren't being met. Providing small snacks throughout the day helps my students not only to stay focused without being distracted by hunger, but also motivates them to keep working.
