¡Libros Libros Libros! Books Books Books!
Funded Mar 9, 2016Thank you very much for your generous contribution toward our classroom library! The students are so excited to read new books! Currently, I am trying to assess the levels for each book so that students can make better independent decisions when choosing a book (making sure that they are just right). The copies that we have received duplicate copies for are really helpful when planning lessons, incorporating PALS (Peer Assisted Learned Strategies) or during independent reading time when students who are friends want to read the same book so that they can talk about it after.
We are all so excited!”

Looks a Little Dull... Add Some Color!
Funded Feb 1, 2016Learning never looked so good! We are so grateful for the color printer that you have contributed toward. Your generosity is very appreciated in the classroom and we have already used the color printer to enhance the classroom. In math, we were able to make a really attractive new work board that allows the teacher to organize the block and let students know exactly what they are expected to do at all times. We have also made printed some colorful math project and game resources that we have laminated and put into good use with our students. The students get so excited when they see the laminated games and resources and are eager to learn how to play games and use all the resources. Soon, I will be making some new literacy games in Spanish that will continue to practice on skills learned in class as well as use some fun pictures to introduce vocabulary in the classroom and create fun bulletin boards!”

Technology for Learning!
Funded Feb 1, 2016We are very happy to have this technology in our classroom! The iPads are used on a daily basis for math stations, literacy centers, projects and more! The students continue to show excitement and engagement when they have a chance to work on the iPads. They take their learning seriously and appreciate this new technology as an added resource in the classroom. The iPads make information much easier to access and the apps that we have downloaded so far are very targeted toward what students are expected to learn in the classroom.”

Cart for Technology Leads to Learning
Funded May 5, 2015Although this thank you is very long overdue, I want you to know how grateful I am for contributing to this project. The cart that you funded is used every single day. The use of technology has become so much better organized now that there is a designated station for it. The set up takes less time that is now spent on other things, such as planning and working with the students, and the environment is much safer now that there aren't so many cords stretched across the floor of the classroom.
Again, thank you so very much for your generosity! I”

Ayuda a Nuestra Biblioteca
Funded Mar 23, 2015We are so appreciative of all your generous contributions to our classroom! My students have already begun reading the new books that the library acquired. The great thing about this project is that we now have more than one copy of some of the more popular books in the classroom. This is great because often the struggle is that more than one student wants to read the same book and then be able to talk about it later. These copies will also be useful during other activities that we do in the classroom, such as PALS (Peer Assisted Learning Strategies) where the students help one another develop reading skills such as fluency, accuracy and comprehension.
The students this year have already begun benefiting from these books and the students next year (and other years to come) will also benefit from these great books.
On behalf of all of my students, thank you!”

Funded Nov 25, 2014Thank you all very much for your generous contributions! All of the materials acquired through this project are greatly appreciated and have also positively impacted our classroom already! The students are all very excited about the new books and games. The speakers and dongles will make it possible to use technology more freely and use a wider variety of sources in my classroom. We are all very excited about the materials and using them in the classroom to make Spanish learning more fun and interesting!”

Funded Oct 10, 2014The second the books arrived in my classroom, my students were overwhelmed with excitement. They could not wait to look at the books and get to choose the one that would be able to read first. The variety of topics and levels made it possible for every student to be interested in the new books in the classroom. Literacy is very important in every students life and it is important that they learn to also enjoy reading- in both English and Spanish. As an educator, it is so refreshing to see these young minds be so intrigued with new books and eager to learn more. Thank you again for all of your help!”

LIBROS - Books For a Bilingual Classroom.
Funded Apr 11, 2014First of all, thank you all very much for your support for this project! It means so much to the students and myself that you would go out of your way to help build our classroom. The children are so excited about all of the new books that have been added to the library and can't wait to get one done so they can continue on to another. It is so important and so gratifying to see my students be so eager to pick up a book and really be excited about it!
The students are using the books on a daily basis! They use them every night to read for homework (at least 30 minutes per night) and during class for independent reading time. It's not easy for many of them, as Spanish is their second language, and the variety of levels make it easier for them to pick a book at their level and be excited for it. For those who are stronger in Spanish, they now have the ability to challenge themselves a bit more and read books that will broaden their horizons, thanks to you!
Acquiring these new books impacts my teaching and my students' learning in so many positive ways. For one, it is not a battle anymore for me to get them into their reading - sometimes it is even hard for me to get them to move on to the next thing! Another way it helps is that the students are taking school a little bit more seriously and being more critical as they read. This is noted through their nightly response journals and other ways.
Thank you once again! We truly appreciate all of your generous contributions to help build our classroom library!”
