  • Markers are a Must for English Language Learners!

    Funded Apr 14, 2010

Thank you so very much for your very generous donation to our school. My students were as excited as I was to unpack our new supplies. They ceremoniously threw away our old, dried up markers and began planning how to maintain our new project boxes.

My students have taken responsibility for keeping the project boxes complete and organized by creating a check out system. They agreed that each group must sign out the box, and then the resources manager checks that the box has all of its markers, scissors and glue before allowing them to sign it back in. This organizational system is no small feat for students who typically organize themselves by folding handouts and stuffing them in the back of their notebooks. I expected these supplies to allow students to demonstrate their knowledge in a variety of ways, but had no idea the benefits would extend to their organizational abilities and ownership of our classroom!

Thanks again for enhancing student learning. It is so important during these tough economic times to have donors like you to help students continue to receive the tools and support they need to be successful. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!! ”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Thompson

  • Posters for a Better World

    Funded Dec 10, 2009

The Chromark poster making kit you donated to the Community Service Club has helped immensely! The students were so excited when I unveiled this kit. They love the variety of colors and brush styles, and that they get to use a resource which is often found only in colleges.

Having good quality materials to create posters has made a tangible difference. The posters students are now producing look professional, and they are able to produce a greater quantity in less time than ever before. So far we have used the kit to make posters for two projects, which were Care Packages for Soldiers and Help for Haiti.

Our school is currently facing a significant budget shortfall, so without your help we never would have had this great resource. In our English Language Learner school, visual accompaniments to writing are absolutely essential for engaging students. This kit has helped my students reach out to other students through attractive posters.

Thank you so much for your generous donation. My students and I are deeply grateful and are using this resource well!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Thompson
