  • Vocabulary Programs for Fluency Needed!

    Funded Aug 22, 2019

The impact of this project last school year was impeccable. As most of you know the challenge of engaging students via virtual learning was extremely difficult. However, the catchy tunes of Flocabulary not only engaged them it encouraged learning as they memorized the tunes to help themselves during reviews and assessments. It was interesting to see the students mouthing the lyrics to many of their favorites during state testing. In addition to helping with the mastery of Reading and Language Arts skills, Flocabulary also helped with transitions. I would play the 5 Paragraph Essay Flocabulary as a transitional procedure leading into wr5iting. By the end of the rap students were responsible for putting away their Reading materials and preparing for Writing by taking out their writing journals and notes. From both my class and myself, THANK YOU!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Blackshear

  • Learning the Basics With Flocabulary!

    Funded Nov 10, 2020

Thank you so much for your generous donation that allowed 2nd to 5th grade teachers at Benjamin Franklin to access Flocabulary. The teachers are raving about this tool and have implemented it across many different subject areas.

The impact of Flocabulary for distance learning students and teachers goes unmatched. Flocabulary grabs the students' attention and teaches pertinent skills through rap. After completion of the Flocabulary assignment not only have they learned the intended skill but they've acquired them because months later they still remember the catchy tones.”

  • The Novel of Novel Reading! Oh My!

    Funded Feb 19, 2019

Thank you so much for funding my "The Novel of Novel Reading! Oh My!" project request! because of your generosity, my fifth-grade students no longer had to re-read old literature this school year. Some of my ESOL students even surpassed native English speakers in the end-of-the-year final reading assessments, which was quite an achievement There were even students who advanced from reading at the 5th-grade level to reading at the seventh grade. Thank you for supporting my classroom. We truly appreciate all that you have done.”

  • Time to STEAM UP Our 5th-Grade Classroom!

    Funded Mar 29, 2018

Thanks so much for funding my laptop project "Time to Steam Up our fifth-grade classroom" project request.

We badly needed technology that was portable, wireless and fast in order for my students to explore science and math in an interactive, engaging and dynamic fashion. My students will not only learn how to be tech-savvy but also will learn STEAM concepts in innovative ways. We are now able to use the document viewer with the laptop for individual and group presentations while other activities are in progress, and this is very effective and time-saving.

Thank you for supporting public schools.”

  • Help Our 5th-Graders Cut the Edge for STEAM!

    Funded May 11, 2018

Thank you for funding my "Help Our 5th-Graders Cut the Edge for STEAM" project request! I cannot express my gratitude as these rotary cutters and self-healing double-sided rotary mats with rulers are helping my students complete their assignment and start their end-of-year portfolios.

Already, my fifth-grade students are researching projects they could use the cutters for and the possibilities are unlimited thanks to your kindness.

You have gone up and beyond for students in public schools and we thank you for making a difference.”

  • A Couple of Chromebooks Desperately Needed for Our Reading Center!

    Funded Mar 27, 2018

Thank you so much for the awesome Chromebooks! In terms of updated technology, my fifth-grade classroom was in dire need and you saved the day. You have helped me furnish my classroom with workstations that were so desperately needed. I cannot thank you enough.

We now have several group centers using Chromebooks, which is very engaging, not to mention useful for our fifth-graders. Working with the Chromebooks in a productive way for research and exploration/discovery purposes is preparing these 5th-graders for middle school. They are learning how to effectively and efficiently rotate, how to work in a group as well as independently and how to conduct research online. None of these would have been possible if it were not for your generosity.”

  • Document Viewer Camera Desperately Needed!

    Funded Feb 19, 2018

Thank you so much for supporting my project that allowed my classroom to get a blue tooth player and document viewer. Because I always have new and exciting materials to facilitate my students, the flexibility of the document reader has made my job so much easier, not to mention, efficient.

My students are now able to see their work up on the screen as well as their peers. They are more careful and aware of what and how they write as they are aware that it may be highlighted for their classmates to critique. There is a greater pride and work ethic when it comes to their approach to writing.”

    Funded Dec 20, 2017

Thanks so much for the awesome multi-function color printer. In terms of technology, my classroom was in dire need of a wireless printer and you came and saved the day. You have helped me furnish my classroom with the technology that was so desperately needed. I cannot thank you enough.

The color printer is going to make printing out new literature and resources so much easier as the students can now print and take home their reading and writing assignments. We are so grateful for your generosity and support. You truly have made a difference!”

  • Library Books and Vocabulary for Fluency Needed!

    Funded Dec 22, 2017

Thank you for funding my "Library Books and Vocabulary for Fluency Needed!" project request. The online vocabulary resource "Flocabulary" is an enhancement and an excellent aid for my English Language Learners. They are hooked on the program and every though we do not have enough workstations to facilitate each group, they triple up and take turns, so everyone learns.

The book set is awesome and the kids are excited to finish all 52 selections before the end of the school year in May. Thank you for sparking that extra fire and enthusiasm for our reading center. My students are even more passionate about reading than they were before, thanks to kind donors like you.”

  • Are You Ready Tigers?

    Funded Dec 24, 2015

Thank you so much for supporting our cause! My students will now have the extra "push" and motivation needed to improve their math and science skills as well as invigorating their love for the sciences.

I cannot wait to see their faces when they see the science and math materials and games. The robotic toys are going to be the highlight as some will get to actually own them based on their performance in class. These incentives will surely bring my classroom to life and I cannot thank you enough for all you have done.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Blackshear

My students come from diverse backgrounds and with that come an array of abilities, skills and talents. Not all are scientifically inclined, but I would say that all can learn and benefit from science--once they are motivated and engaged in the process. My school has a high number of students who are ESOL, ELL and there are a few who are SPED and gifted. Even though we have to cater for and adapt to such a wide range of learning needs, we know that all children will learn if given the right tools and technology (and teachers who care). At the moment, I am spearheading an incentive program to encourage students to work on their math, reading and science skills on their own at home, using a computer program called i-Ready.
