  • Panel Display for Incredible Photojournalism Artworks!

    Funded Jun 14, 2024

Thank you for your generous support to my students and their success as artists and creative individuals. Your contribution will make an impact on them today as young learners and in the future as change-makers in our world.

I really appreciate your time and dedication in helping our learning community thrive.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Du

  • Microphone & Speaker to Amplify Student Voices

    Funded Jan 16, 2024

Thank you so much for your support in fulfilling this project! This microphone & speaker has been such a great addition to our learning environment. We have been able to utilize the microphone on many occasions as well as the bluetooth speaker!

My students have been able to amplify their voices in the classroom, afterschool, as well as outside of our school building. On our Unity Walk for Black Lives Matter at Schools Week, our student leaders took the microphone to share their voices, song, and poetry with our community. During our rehearsals for our upcoming Broadway Junior musical production, we have been able to utilize the bluetooth feature to play accompanying soundtracks.”

  • Snack Sanctuary for Hungry Middle Schoolers!

    Funded Nov 29, 2023

Thank you so much for your contributions to this project! When putting together this request I knew my students would appreciate the snacks, but little did I know HOW MUCH it would impact their school day.

I noticed students during lunch on the search for food outside of the regular cafeteria offerings. Once they realized we had a snack station, and they sat down to enjoy their snack, I heard usually grumpy voices turn to cheery storytellers. One student even said, "I feel so pampered!" Who would have thought, that one granola bar and a juice-box can make such a difference in the mood of a middle schooler. Students who normally do not eat anything for lunch are able to enjoy a cup of noodles, bowl of mac & cheese, or egg sandwich. Lethargy is turned into interest and alertness for learning.

I hope you will continue to support my classroom and students in their quest for knowledge with our next projects. Thank you for not only supplying snacks, but feeding my students' hearts and minds.”

  • Building Community With Creative Games

    Funded Mar 27, 2023

Thank you so so much for your support of this project! The collection of games brought so much joy to our art class this year. Not only did we have fun, we learned about one another, ourselves, and how to work together.

We got to practice following rules and overcoming challenges. The games also presented new avenues for our creativity. Inventing new games from the parts and pieces in the box allowed students to show their ingenuity. One of the matching games was also useful as reference materials for painting flowers!

Thank you for helping us build a positive supportive creative community. :)”

  • Middle School Students Create Change With the Art of Protest

    Funded Jan 20, 2022

Thank you so much for your generosity in supporting my students through this project! I truly did not expect it to be funded with such speed. My students have been deeply invested in the work of artivism to quell the tides of injustice. Many return to this quality text on occasion for reference or inspirational reading material.

My students love the colorful and thoughtful contents of this book. We have even received notes from the author DeNichols!

This gift provides all students in grades 6, 7, and 8 with a thoughtful and relevant resource for years to come.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Du

  • Making Art in Uncertain Times

    Funded Aug 19, 2020

I am so grateful for your incredible generosity in helping me fill these art supply lists for my Middle School students. Because of your generosity, each and everyone one of my students in Bedford-Stuyvesant have been able to access high quality art supplies throughout both blended and remote learning.

My students were so eager to get their hands on the beautiful canson mixed-media sketchbooks, the variety of drawing pencils and the wonderfully pigmented watercolor palettes. So many were delightfully surprised when using the watercolor pencils seeing the drawn line flow into paint! Having the clear zippered bag allows all of my students to stay organized and know where to find their art supplies when it is time for art class.

We have been hard at work sketching and painting, studying the drawings of Shantell Martin, the portraits by Tatyana Fazlalizadeh, creating our own self-portraits, and sharing our work with one another through zoom!

If you'd like to see some of the work of my students, visit us online at ms35k.org or instagram.com/theduartstudio”

Starting the school year with a set of quality art supplies will give my students opportunity to jump right into creating and experimenting in September regardless of whether the school is entirely remote or partially in-person. Having a personal art kit will give all my students the same access no matter of their family's financial status or capability of sourcing their own supplies during this pandemic. Donating to this project will support all of my young artists in having new art supplies to confidently communicate their personal experiences and understandings of themselves.
