  • Playing And Learning To Read

    Funded Dec 29, 2023

I would like to thank you for your generous donations to my classroom and students. Being a teacher of English language learners, I am always looking for new ways to engage my students in learning both the English language as well as helping to provide them with the foundational skills that they will need to learn the grade level curriculum. Having these new games and activities to use with them has provided them with invaluable lessons that they can use across the content areas. It has been so exciting and they are always saying that they wish they could spend all day in my classroom. They are always so excited when we have games days on Fridays and can try out something new. Thank you for your generous support of our classroom.”

  • Feeling Jazzy

    Funded Dec 1, 2023

Thank you so much for your kind and generous donations to our color guard groups. We were so lucky to be able to receive these shoes in time for our competition season so that we were able to look professional in comparison to other teams that receive much more funding than we do. The students have worked incredibly hard throughout the season building a show that we could all be proud of. Our competition season ended this weekend on a very high note, with both teams putting on a wonderful performance. We thank you again for everything that you did to help our teams achieve.”

I cannot thank you enough for your generous donation to our team! My students work so hard as we try to build our program up into a truly competitive team. We had the honor of coming in second place at our competition last week and are so excited to keep this going as the season continues. Being able to have brand new equipment makes everyone feel like we can truly look good and feel good about all the hard work we put in. Thank you again for your help.”

Thank you so much for your support of our colorguard teams. We are such a new team that we are working with so much old and well used materials that we want to make sure that we are able to keep our small store of newer equipment safe. Thank you so much for your support of the arts.”

  • Help Us Build Our Library

    Funded Oct 24, 2023

As a person who loves reading I have spent my life enjoying being able to interact with different worlds and characters that were brought to life by the books that I have read. Throughout my career I have made it a personal mission to try to build not only the ability to read, but also a love of reading. I am able to watch the students get excited when they see something that they recognize, and want to share it with me and tell me what it is called in their first language and ask me how to say it in English. I can see them working together to tell each other stories across the pictures and act them out together. It may not be what some may call a traditional reading classroom, but it is wonderful place for my students to be with their new high quality materials. Thank you for everything.”

  • Let's Get Ready to Read!

    Funded Mar 30, 2023

I cannot possibly thank you enough. As a lover of books myself, I am always trying to instill a love of reading into my students and to show them that there are so many things that we can find in books. They are always asking me if they can go and look at books together. One of my favorite things is the way that the students come together no matter what languages they speak and can enjoy the wonderful illustrations and photographs together even if they are still in the process of learning the language and learning how to read. Thank you so much for your help to give my students the high quality books that they deserve.”

  • Leotards and Leggings for the Colorguard!

    Funded Mar 23, 2023

My students and I have been working very hard to build up the colorguard programs within our city. Over the past few years we have worked to make our program one that both the staff and the students can all be proud of to say that they were a part of.

With the help of donations from such generous people like you we have been able to get the help we needed to get the extra pieces that we needed. With this order of leggings and leotards we can start to build up a foundation of costumes that we will be able to use for our competition seasons. We thank you for your support of our team in this season and our future seasons.”

  • Do You Hear What I Hear?

    Funded Feb 3, 2023

Teaching students that are learning English comes with many challenges, one of those includes finding ways to help students participate and feel successful regardless of their educational background or what languages they speak. Oftentimes, students will come to my class having barely heard English before, and it is my goal to help them feel more comfortable listening, speaking, reading and writing in English. Though I don't expect them to be perfect, it is always exciting seeing their progress throughout the year. As a language learner myself, I know how important it is to be able to hear various speakers of the language to train yourself to listen to different people and how they speak the language before I feel ready to try it myself. With these headphones, I have been able to increase the amount of spoken language that my students hear and given them the opportunity to feel safe and comfortable when they are working on trying to speak the language themselves. Thank you so much for your generosity.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Crotty

Hello and welcome to my donors choose page! I have been a teacher for 15 years now and I am now in my tenth year at the STEM Academy in Lowell, Massachusetts. Originally, we were used as an overflow school because there wasn't enough room for Kindergarten and first graders in the district. Because we were known throughout the district as "not being a real school", we were not given the necessary money to properly fund and run a school. We were forced to be creative and often spend our own money on our students. Over the past few years we have begun transitioning into a STEM school and have been playing catch up when it comes to school supplies the whole time. Over the years we have built up our school to now be one of the biggest schools in Lowell and we're still growing. We are dedicated to providing our students with the skills they will need to be fantastic lifelong learners.
