Funded Dec 7, 2023Thank you so much for your generous donation to our classes. Your generosity provided world atlases for our students who had not previously had this resource. This was a valuable tool that aided our learning, as Geography is an important recurring topic in the 6th Grade Social Studies classroom. With these books, students were able to engage in rigorous activities based on the NY State Framework for Social Studies.
These activities involved analytical thinking that pushed my students not only to understand the basics of map literacy but also to develop their analytical skills to begin understanding the impact geography has on human civilization.
My students enjoy the large images and colorful maps provided in these atlases. They are very clear and easy to read. I know students really like this resource because they don't want to put it down. I found many continuing to explore different maps and different parts of the world even after finishing their work.”
With gratitude,
Mr. S.

Leveling the Digital Divide: a MacBook for Our Classroom
Funded Aug 2, 2023First and foremost, I'd like to express our deepest gratitude for your generous contributions. The introduction of the new MacBook into our social studies classroom has been a game changer. In a subject where understanding diverse cultures, historical events, and geography are essential, the MacBook has enabled me to design lessons that bring these topics to life. Through rich multimedia presentations, students can now explore historical events, delve into ancient civilizations, and interact with digital maps. When paired with our Promethean board, these experiences become even more immersive, allowing students to engage with the content in a hands-on manner, making the past and the world more tangible and relatable.
What has truly captivated our students is the interactive software capabilities. Instead of passively absorbing information, they're now active participants in their own learning journey. Virtual field trips, interactive timelines, and multimedia explorations have transformed our classroom into a dynamic learning environment. The combination of the MacBook and the Promethean board has not only enriched our curriculum but has also ignited a newfound enthusiasm for social studies among our students, making learning both engaging and memorable.”

Funded Aug 24, 2022I want to thank you for your donation to my classroom project. It meant so much to my students and myself. When project based learning is part of your learning environment, there is always a need to restock your classroom supplies. Your donation has allowed me to continue creating engaging, collaborative, hands-on lessons for my students.
With the supplies that you helped fund, my students were able to continue to learn history in a more engaging way. They were excited to see all of the boxes come into the classroom. When I explained the generosity involved in how our classroom acquired them, many students came to me privately to let me know how nice it was that someone helped.”

Funded Feb 24, 2022Thank you so much for helping support my classroom. The headphones you helped fund have really had an impact on learning in my classroom. Students are now able to independently learn about historical events using the education platform EdPuzzle. This platform presents educational videos with comprehension questions. In a classroom with 30 students, having headphones is a must when using this platform. In addition, I have been able to utilize the headphones for make up work. If a student was absent, they can watch a short video of the lesson that they missed without disrupting the rest of the class. Finally, students who need additional support can use the headphones to watch further EdPuzzle videos or re-watch my lesson if needed. Thank you for making this all possible.”

Touchscreen Laptop for Our Class!
Funded Jan 24, 2022The HP laptop that you made a contribution to has helped immensely. This computer's touch screen has helped usher in a new way to interact in the classroom. Utilizing the touchscreen has allowed myself and the students to interact with our Promethean board in real time. We can add answers, edit historical documents, and facilitate live discussions.
My students are excited to use the touchscreen and see their answer and ideas pop up on the large Promethean board screen. It's helped bring another level of engagement into our classroom.”

Help Bring History Alive for Inner-City School Kids!
Funded Mar 31, 2010I would like to personally thank you for giving my students a gift that goes above and beyond simply enhancing their education. Of course, this vital resource helps history to come alive in the classroom, giving the students a technological way to connect to the material and a way to use almost any educational tool visible to the entire class. But it also sent my students a clear message: that there are people out there who care about their education and growth, who care about education in general, and most importantly who care about them as people.
It is inspiring and motivating for kids, especially inner-city kids who have fewer resources and less support than other communities, to see the value of education -- directly through the use of the document camera, and indirectly through the donation itself: that education is valuable.
Thank you, on behalf of myself, my students this year, and my future students who will reap the benefits of the camera for years to come.”
With gratitude,
Mr. S.
