The Arduino microcontroller is not only a unique programming tool it will allow my students to pursue projects in our robotics class that would have otherwise not thought were possible, such as animatronics, robotic arms, carbon detectors, and more! The Arduino allows students to code in a simplified version of C++ as well as apply their knowledge of circuitry simultaneously. I am desperate to not only expose my students to a unique educational experience but most importantly uncover hidden engineering and programming talents in my students that I may not have otherwise discovered. Somewhere in my classroom, there is a truly gifted programmer lying in wait; waiting for the opportunity to become conscious of this fact; waiting for an opportunity to begin his or her journey to change things as we know them. It is a lofty goal, but not a far fetched one. My students possess all that is needed to achieve it; creativity, drive, resiliency, patience. They've only been limited in opportunity. I want to give them this; they've earned it! Let's give them the technology they will need to succeed in an ever-evolving technological advanced world!
