Building FUNdational Reading Skills
Funded Aug 5, 2022Thank you so much for your generosity and kindness. I am so excited to have these materials so that I can teach students how to read with comprehension and fluency. Because of you, learning how to read will be engaging and fun. Students are going to love their new reading materials!”

Funded Sep 12, 2017Thank you so much for your kindness and generosity, the artbots were a hit with my students. Students created the artbots as part of a STEAM project. STEAM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Mathematics. While working on this artbot project, students engaged in all five disciplines of STEAM.
Not all students will pursue a STEAM career, but the ability to work together, problem solve, use critical thinking skills, and communication to assemble the artbots are valuable skills that students learned and can apply to any career they choose.
Thank you once again for allowing this project to take place. It was an enjoyable and fun-filled day!”

Funded Sep 21, 2017Thank you so much for your generous donation that funded my project, Sky High Rescue with Drones! In the 21st century classroom, technology is such an integral part of the learning process. We use iPads, cell phones, and desktops to facilitate the understanding of the material being taught. It's fascinating how my students adapt so easily to new technology and I get to witness the improvements in their learning. They use technology for research, creating video lessons to demonstrate comprehension, create graphic organizers to show concepts, and robotics to understand science concepts.
The most exciting part about our Drones is that students get to work collaboratively to learn how to program and fly the drones, which challenges their critical thinking skills. The drones empower my students to embrace the future and become a maker of technology, not just a user.”

Funded Aug 4, 2017Part of providing our students with the best possible education is preparing them for the workforce and the world they will enter after they leave school. It means turning our focus away from the traditional model we may be more comfortable with to more real-world contexts.
We have to teach students to utilize the technology that exists today so that they will be able to comfortably incorporate it in their careers. For most teachers, this means we're going to be learning right alongside our students (or in some cases, allowing our students to teach us!). It might not be in our comfort zone, but once we recognize that our students are going to need these skills in order to be successful it becomes obvious that we really can't afford to not prepare them properly.
Using 3-D pens in the classroom will teach my students how to think creatively and use groundbreaking technology that may someday relate to their careers. My goal is develop future engineers and scientists, so thank you for supporting my goal.”

Dr. Grizzle
STEM for All: Increase Diversity, Access, and Engagement!
Funded Jul 3, 2017Thank you so much for your continued support of my class! My students really enjoy coming to my STEM lab to learn about coding and robotics. Your donation further ignited my students' curiosity of robotics and how coding allows them to control the robots. Students are fascinated with the Ollie robot by Sphero because of the many ways they can create programs to make Ollie do tricks.
In the 21st century classroom, technology is such an integral part of the learning process. We use iPads, cell phones, and desktops to facilitate the understanding of the material being taught. Now, because of donors like you, my students have the opportunity to learn a new language, coding. Ollie allows students to create programs and algorithms, then watch their creations come to life.
Most importantly, the STEM posters we received for this project allowed me to teach about diversity or lack thereof in STEM occupations. I'm hoping this project will inspire my students to pursue STEM careers in the future. Thanks again for your support!”

Funded May 18, 2017Having a green screen studio in our STEM lab has allowed us to be more creative than ever before! In conjunction with the Green Screen by Do Ink app, students are creatively learning how to evaluate, reflect, and report on their assignments or projects.
Using a green screen is an integral part of the special effects process that allows television producers and movie makers to use advanced technology to superimpose their subjects onto an unlimited number of different virtual backgrounds.
Not only are students having fun with their new assessment tool, but they are learning about technology that is used by professionals in the entertainment business or news reporting. Having the green screen studio in my STEM lab is so integral to students' learning because it allows me to integrate technology in all subject areas without forcing it into a lesson.
Thank you for making my job easier as an educator and for providing my students with an enriching and engaging learning environment!”

Funded Jun 5, 2017Thank you so much for your generous donations that funded my project, "It's Not Delivery, It's Pizza, Co.!" In the 21st century classroom, technology is such an integral part of the learning process. We use iPads, cell phones, and desktops to facilitate the understanding of the material being taught. It's fascinating how my students adapt so easily to new apps and I get to witness the improvements in their learning. Students use technology for research, creating video lessons to demonstrate comprehension, creating graphic organizers to show concepts, or creating digital learning portfolios.
The most exciting part about our Osmo Pizza Co. is that students get to work collaboratively and play games that challenge their conceptual knowledge and critical thinking skills. With Pizza Co., students learn about financial responsibility. Students take over a pizza company and quickly find out how challenging it is to keep up with customers when it comes to taking pizza orders, giving customers the correct toppings, exchanging money, and making enough money to cover their overhead costs! Pizza Co. is a great interactive game that teaches students fiscal responsibility and it brings awareness of the importance of financial literacy.
I teach in a Title I school where approximately 65% of the students qualify for free or reduced lunch. So, it is very important that my students engage in financial literacy in order to develop a strong foundation for life-long financial competence. Again, thank you so much for making my job as teacher fun and exciting!”

Funded Nov 17, 2016Thank you so much for your generous donation that funded my project, Build a Bot! In the 21st century classroom, technology is such an integral part of the learning process. We use iPads, cell phones, and desktops to facilitate the understanding of the material being taught. It's fascinating how my students adapt so easily to new apps and I get to witness the improvements in their learning. They use technology for research, creating video lessons to demonstrate comprehension, create graphic organizers to show concepts, and sometimes scan QR codes I place on tests.
The most exciting part about our Cubelets is that students get to work collaboratively to learn how to create various functioning robots, which challenges their conceptual knowledge and critical thinking skills. Cubelets empowers my students to embrace the future and become a maker of technology, not just a user. Students learn how to channel their ideas into reality because there is no wrong way to build with Cubelets. So, it is remarkably easy to transform these blocks into brilliant bundles of robotic curiosity and therefore, putting students at the forefront of their learning without them even realizing it. Thanks again for helping me transform my students into creative and innovative thinkers!”

STEM on the GO!
Funded Dec 23, 2016Thank you so much for your generous donation to my project, STEM on the GO! As a result of your kindness, students at my school will be able to enjoy our very first school-wide STEM day! The supplies I was able to get donated to my school will go toward a family engagement take-home STEM activity as a way to get families involved in their child's learning and familiarize themselves with a STEM-focused lesson.
Students will use their creativity and imagination to create a new roller coaster ride for their local amusement park. This project will benefit approximately 700 students from kindergarten all the way to fifth grade. Students are excited and eager for STEM day to arrive and are constantly asking will they have another STEM day next year before we even have our first one! Thanks again for making our first STEM day a special one.”

Funded Sep 22, 2016Thank you so much for your generous donations that funded my project, Show Me the Money! In the 21st century classroom, technology is such an integral part of the learning process. We use iPads, cell phones, and desktops to facilitate the understanding of the information being taught. It's fascinating how my students adapt so easily to new apps and I get to witness the improvements in their learning. Students use technology for research, creating video lessons to demonstrate comprehension, create graphic organizers to show concepts, and for this project, the iPads will be used to learn about financial literacy. Teaching in a Title I school where approximately 65% of the students qualify for free or reduced lunch, it is critical that students learn how to handle money in a responsible way, and they will get the chance via fun and engaging apps. Again, thank you so much for making my job as teacher fun and exciting!”
