  • Bubble Bonanza

    Funded Jun 17, 2019

Thank you for your generosity. It means so much that you would give toward this project for my students. Creative opportunities are so important. I am confident the learning activities tied to these materials will be engaging and fun, and just as importantly, will lead to other avenues of thought, inquiry and learning.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Vangelos

This classroom project was brought to life by Overdeck Family Foundation and 6 other donors.
  • An iPad for Innovative Activities

    Funded Feb 10, 2019

Your generosity has already made an impact in my classroom! With the addition of this iPAD my students have had more opportunities to interact with app-controlled robots and experience VR and AR books and tools. We have also used the iPAD for green screen creations and to sync a class set of wearable fitness bands. The iPAD is key to all of these experiences. My students are so excited to learn and explore new ways of interacting with the world. Your donation was essential to providing this for my students and I appreciate your support so very much!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Vangelos

  • Student Action and Global Learning

    Funded Mar 27, 2018

My students were so excited to receive the Power Bands! They felt special and also felt empowered because they know their activities will impact children in need around the world. The immediately began moving! We have participated in a number of Unicef's "Power Up" missions. This is helping to instill empathy and broadening my students' global awareness as we are studying the world map while learning about other cultures and experiences. By contributing to this project you are helping us to help others and also providing motivation and opportunities for increased physical activity in my students. It is a win-win-win!”

  • Problem Solving and Perseverance STEMing from Building and Creating

    Funded Oct 11, 2018

I am so very excited and grateful to you for your donation to this project for my classroom. It is wonderful to know that you and others are willing to encourage a love of learning within my students, without even meeting them. With the addition of these STEM-focused and hands-on materials we can open doors to science, design, engineering, and other fields which our students may not otherwise be exposed to in meaningful ways. Students have already begun applying problem solving skills and practicing perseverance as they use the materials. I love to see them engaged in their learning!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Vangelos

  • Paper Circuitry

    Funded Oct 4, 2018

Thank you for contributing toward supplies for our Paper Circuits project. This project allowed my students to have hands-on practice designing and creating simple circuits. They created cards to give to others, so we also had the added benefit of applying creative and critical thinking skills, along with empathy and service to others. It is a project I hope to repeat several more times in our classroom. Students were engaged in their learning and were problem solvers. Your contribution is greatly appreciated.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Vangelos

  • Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality Can Be Our Reality!

    Funded Sep 22, 2018

Thank you so much for contributing to this project! I am grateful and my students are excited. The materials have already made an impact in our classroom. Along with other activities, students have had opportunities to see "inside" the brain and dive deep "into the ocean". Being able to experience these lessons, as opposed to just reading about the topics, is much more engaging. These virtual and augmented reality tools are opening doors to science, technology and other fields which my students may not otherwise be exposed to in meaningful ways.

    I appreciate your support.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Vangelos

This classroom project was brought to life by Craig Newmark Philanthropies and 3 other donors.
  • The Code to Fun!

    Funded Apr 14, 2018

Thank you for your support of this project. These coding robots are engaging and fun. Students have enjoyed learning to make them work, setting up tasks for the robots, and creating obstacle courses. As students work to solve problems by coding Botley they are also building their collaboration and communication skills. These, and similar beginning robotics tools are opening doors to science, design, engineering, and other fields which my students may not otherwise be exposed to in meaningful ways.”

  • Robotic Cubes

    Funded May 8, 2018

Thank you for supporting this project in my classroom. It is great to know that you share my vision for reaching young children and preparing them for the future. Your donation has helped to provide hands-on opportunities for my students to explore and discover with small modular robots, specifically Cubelets. As students work to solve problems by building robots that do different types of work they are also building their collaboration and communication skills. These beginning robotics tools are opening doors to science, design, engineering, and other fields which my students may not otherwise be exposed to in meaningful ways.”

  • Learning at All Levels

    Funded Mar 27, 2018

By donating to this project, you have not only helped to improve and increase student attention and focus, but may ultimately help to increase their academic achievement. My students are able to move around the room thanks to many flexible seating options available to them. Several of these options place them lower to the floor than a regular desk or table and you helped to provide my students with lap desks that they may use to work comfortably on the floor. We also now have several colorful stools and some "zenergy" bouncy seats. I have found that by giving the students flexible options for seating I have students who focus better and do better work.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Vangelos

This classroom project was brought to life by Ripple.
  • Learners as Leaders

    Funded Aug 22, 2017

I can't fully express my joy, excitement, and thanks for your donation to my project. It is great to see that you share my vision for reaching children and preparing them for the future.

The resources that you have funded have helped lay the groundwork for intentional leadership instruction for my students. With these materials, I can help students explore and learn more about leadership, collaboration, communication, and problem solving. And, as they are written specifically for elementary students, my students are better able to picture themselves as leaders, which I believe will undoubtedly contribute to their success now and in the future.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Vangelos

I am the librarian for an elementary school within our district which is nestled in the mountains in southwestern Virginia. The backgrounds of students in this Title 1 designated school are diverse. Some have limited opportunities for academic enrichment or extension beyond the school walls. As the librarian I have the privilege of working with students at all grade levels, as well as having the opportunity to support classroom teachers. Beyond just a steady focus on helping students successfully meet mandated academic standards, I want to provide creative outlets for students and encourage growth in explorative learning and critical thinking while developing a lifelong love of reading.
