  • Cultivating a Culture of Learning in a Classy Classroom

    Funded Aug 14, 2019

Thank you so much for loving my students and helping me provide them with the classroom they deserve! We are create it a student library and we now have a way for the students to organize and have access to the books. My goal is for all children to find a book that speaks to them. I pray that they learn how to make the world a better place through literacy. You have helped to do this and thank you does not seem adequate. I hope you all have a wonderful school year!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. R.

  • Learning & Loving Storybooks

    Funded Oct 20, 2017

Looking at the photographs does not do justice to the excitement and joy you brought to 25 five year olds as they leaned to love reading. We read book books, listened to books on tape, retold the stories with puppets and on a felt board. The children knew these old favorites by heart and changed their voices, read with emotions and grew more confident. Many take knowing The Three Little Bears, The Little Red Hen, Little Red Riding Hood for granted. You introduced these classics and more to my students. They loved them so much they had to share them with the other classes. Thank you again for loving my students.”

  • STEM In Our Future

    Funded Sep 26, 2016

I have made Fridays, STEM Fridays. My students saw the STEM kits you gave us in the corner of the Science area and were full of questions, they could not wait for Friday to arrive. When they walked up after lunch, their were STEM stations around the room. My fifth graders had a difficult time deciding where to go. I assured them that we had enough materials and Friday afternoons that everyone would be able to participate.

For the first time my students were able to build ramps, explore with magnets and investigate electricity. A new world has been opened up to them.

Thank you so much for this gift!”

  • SuperScience Magazines for Super Students

    Funded Oct 9, 2016

Do you remember being excited when the mail came? I still get excited when a new magazine arrives with a beautiful cover, articles I cannot wait to read and new things to try. You have given that gift to my students. They are so excited every month when their new magazine arrives, addressed to them. Super Science magazine has bright, interesting photographs and large headlines that hook my students so all they want to do is read. This can be a challenge at times, so I very much appreciate not only the magazines full of science information but helping to develop the desire to read.

My hope is that as my students learn about the world, how it works, how we can improve it, they will want to step outside their community and make it better for everyone. You may have helped sparked the interest of a future doctor that will cure a disease, an engineer that will develop a new, safer energy source for us. I appreciate your generosity and what it has given my students.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. R.

  • Write It All Down

    Funded Aug 25, 2016

Thank you so much for adding color to our classroom. I am still amazed that students that are reluctant become motivated to complete math problems when on bright color paper.

The students are loving the math games we are playing. I made them with the materials you shared with us and they are made to meet their specific needs.

What I most appreciate is the pencil sharpener and pencils! It is always a challenge to have all of my students prepared for class. We will all have sharpened pencils every day this year. That little gift puts a smile on my face every morning.

I appreciate your thoughtfulness and making math and science bright, colorful, fun and motivating for my fifty children.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. R.

  • Students Want to Move and Learn

    Funded Aug 19, 2016

Thank you so much for thinking of my students! I have 50 fifth grade students that are working hard to fill in the gaps from previous years and meet this year's math standards. At the beginning of the year, they were so surprised and excited to see that they had a choice of where to seat. For a month we tried all the different seats and figured which was best for us during which activities. It has been interesting to see them settle down and find their perfect fit. I have students that have not been able to sit through a class in the past, now bounce in their seat and finish their work.

Look at these photographs of the students taking assessments, one of the most unpleasant tasks. They are in their new seats and making the best of it. They are happy!

I truly appreciate you caring about my students.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. R.

While it would be nice for them to have a real play ground or a back yard to run in and release their energy, this is the next best thing for now!

I truly appreciate you caring about my students.”

  • Just Right Books for All

    Funded Mar 29, 2016

Our last unit of the year is series books. The students work in book clubs to read different series and learn about the characters and how they grow. With your generous gift, all students are able to participate in Fiction and Nonfiction Book Clubs. Each series has books at a variety of levels. This allows each child to read and participate in the discussion. It also allows the class to work together, support one another and learn new things. One of the favorite series is the All About series where the students can learn about their world.

Thank you again for caring enough about my little ones so they can develop a love of reading.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. R.

  • Moving to Learn

    Funded Mar 29, 2016

We had a class discussion about our new seating and to revise our class procedures. The children love the different options. It was so interesting to hear which chairs they preferred and why. I have noticed that different students gravitate to different seats. This can all change depending on the activity, time of day and how they feel.

The students stated the chairs help them focus, do their work, are more fun, and they no longer lean back and get fussed at for being dangerous.

I want to provide my little ones with the best school day they can have. With your help, I have been able to do this.”

  • Help Us Hear the Books

    Funded Nov 17, 2015

I cannot begin to tell you the joy your gift has given to my little ones. The students love their new listening center! The listening center is wireless so the children are able to sit in their comfy spot and listen to a book being read to them as they follow along. Unfortunately, all of them do not have the experience of sitting in a loved ones lap and hearing their favorite book read. Your gift begins to give that to them.

For my students learning English, they are able to hear their science and social studies books read repeatedly so they can learn the content. Sometimes we have a friend that just needs to escape in a good book, calm down and then rejoin the class. Your gift allows that to happen.

Thank you again for showing my children how to be loving and generous. I promise you we will pay it forward.”
